respot cells "out of time"
has anyone ever had their respot cells seem out of time? like closing too late on the pins and the pins slipping through? has a lane doing that and the timing for the respot cam is good. even tried advancing the table a bit.Tags: None

Check the pawl gap, also had a similar issue, turned out the plate the the 3 springs attach to had snapped on 1 side causing a loss of tension. Also make sure respot link arm is straight and spot/respot cam is ok...AS REQUESTED....The all new and VERY improved "super cool" Pin_Head with super hip shades.....

The timing of the cells closing and opening can seem late if the gap between the finger link and shifter cam is too large.
I also agree with all the above as well.
But, if for some reason the table drive is not timed close enough with the spot/respot cam this can happen and advancing the table drive (making the table get there sooner than the spot/respot cam) will make it worse. Retarding or delaying the table drive some will get the timing closer.
But first you must make sure the usual adjustments are correct or at least close and the cells move freely on the table, etc.

Also, older machines function best with the pawl as close as possible to the cam. If you're using the gap suggested in the manual, try creeping it in a little closer. As long as it doesn't touch the peak of the cam as you open and close the cells at 355, you'll be in good shape and you'll get faster action from the cells.

That's a good tip Toby and I'll add the way I do that is crank the table to top dead center, then set your gap to about 1/4"-1/8", that way you get the most drive to the cells yet there is still enough of a gap for the finger link to flip during respotting.

A tighter pawl gap always worked well for me also. I went closer than you TJ. I did as you did and set just a little more than a daylight gap between the pawl and the fattest part. Mine if anything was closer to 1/8" but I'd say it was even tighter than that. Worked perfectly for me but as always all machines and centers are differentAll I want in life is to turn wrenches and climb around pinsetters/pinspotters again :/

I would check the respot rod adjustment for this issue.

*sigh* Hello friends..
I had a 4:1 go bad and I've never seen or done one before. Trying to search the depths of the forums, YouTube videos, it didn't seem too bad....

Adapting the Bluffton end cap & terminal board kit to Franklin BE (and FE) motors.
Left a rant about this in the bowling forum…
I’ve already repaired a a number of Franklin FE motors using the Bluffton-style end cap and terminal board kit (090-004-582)....

Turret clutch rebuild
At what thickness do you replace the clutch face.
Is there a minimum dimension from the clutch face to the rivet.
Thanks...
