  • Too heavy

Hey guys, I have the above ground ball returns, and I am having some customers complain/I am having trouble calls every 5 seconds that there ball is getting stuck or not coming back. The issue is they are using 15-16 pound balls and our house balls range from 6-12 pound balls. So the heavier balls are not getting kicked in to the belt/ball return area and coming back. I was told by the guy that got everything working (before I started to do it) that it could not be set high enough for 15-16lb balls because the 6 pounders would come back too fast. Is there truth to this, or can I adjust it to get the heavier balls back?

Ignore the last post I misread above ground. Are you talking kickers?

CMOlson: You're gonna have to be a little more specific. Is the ball getting stuck in the pinspotter?

Also, what do you mean by the 6lb. balls are coming back too fast? (gonna guess it's supposed to be 16.)

I used to work in a center with above ground returns, and some of the front stops would just let the heavier balls pass through without slowing them down, and i think this is what you're referring to as 'too fast'.
You know, if my dog was as ugly as you. I'd shave his butt and tell him to walk backwards

@rivmike I am going to give that a shot I just had a belt do the same thing (Hump back) and had to replace it.

@McGolf12 the coming back to fast was what the tech had told me when he was fixing the machines. That if it was "set" any higher (kick heavier then 12lbs) that the 6lbs balls would come back to fast. I am having an issue where the ball gets in the door and stops...and the kicker just sits there grinding away trying to push it in. Then I have to go back in the back with our pin hook and push it in. It only happens on balls heavier then 12-13 lbs

Not humpback, push the ball in all the way and look at the space between the lift and the rubber bumper. ( 1/8 inch) Most of my lanes need a plate on the bounce plate the lets the ball fall into the kicker instead of sitting in the valley just outside the hole as the kicker is grabbing it.

The "humpback" I was referring to was in the other post, where the belt separated and I had to replace the orange belt. Was going to cut that one up and try this mod.
