I had a distributor jam on lane 12 today went up and cleared it, then the college instructor came down about 5 minutes later and said it did it again. Walked upstairs and found the table halfway down on standing pins and more pins laying down.
Lifted the masking unit and found the table drive in half and the small conical bearing on the 7 side from the front laying under the table. The flat washer that holds the bolt to keep it together had snapped in half and the bolt pulled all the through. Half was bolted to the drive shaft and the other half was hanging from the clevis!
Luckily had just rebuilt my spare. I think from now on I will replace that washer when I rebuild one.
Of all days for the kids to have no school and need my phone at home so I could not take a picture!
Sometimes we have to do stuff to get by....Just go back and do it right when the "by" has passed!!
This does happen......seen it at least 25 times. The washer is kinda a "spring washer" in shape. Stress after spotting many thousands of sets of pins.....The washer that you said can just break apart suddenly I seen it happen many times back in time since the middle 80's

I use two flat washers from Fleet Farm, the spring ones do break. It's not bad to change but all the things that bend if it crashes to the deck is the problem.

Is this a Brunswick machine?

I have helped out Gaddy 1021 more than once this season. Thanks for the opportunity to show my "skills" ....Gaddy....... We will only move forward in our mission to be better than the competition behind behind us now

I've had that washer shatter on me a few times. That whole assembly is a little rinky dink if you ask me.
I have had at least a 1 time "break up" and dump the "Table Drive" on the lane in the middle 80's while I was in my "church clothes"........ I am serious here......I ruined my pants on that one. That special "spring washer" on the table drive can break up at anytime for no reason at all.

Now that I am older now.......I feel that the table drives were overtightened back in the late 1970's on our machines. Nobody had a clue back then. Today......after 30 years of experience.....I do have some clue today and am willing to share all my experience with all to learn today about anything on an AMF 8270 >>>>> Uncle Bob

Yup . . . saw this too often. The new machines use a flat washer along with the spring disc washer, to hold onto the bolt head in the event of failure. Spring disc is still necessary for proper tensioning and seating of the conical bearings. I'm doing this on all my drives.
I have got to stop reading these posts, I got a message from my pinny last night saying lane 19 was down because the table wouldnt move, I walk in expecting to find the klixon tripped like I usually find when he has been working and I see the table on the deck. The table drive bolt snapped and the spring washer was in 9 pieces. Sigh.

Good morning, I have built a tester for the MP Chassis for the 82-70 machines. Instead of using the cam switches I am using relays. My question is to anyone that may...
Is anyone running the solderless relays on the accelerators? How do you like them? What brand? How difficult to convert was it? Would love the feed back as I'm about to switch...
Working...
