I would expect that to destroy a carpet fairly quickly.

        100% not acceptable

Buy a new roller body and fix it correctly

In this case it"ll end up costing you more in the near future.

Scrap metal, with washers on it. Rollers are a pita and costly , butt no where near as costly ad replacing the carpet weekly .
Change the chassis, is not the answer.

I wouldnt expect the carpet belt to last more than a few weeks at best... so factor the cost of replacing your carpet belt monthly. adds up quick

Yeah, I probably would not do that. The roller body needs to be smooth, if you add something like that that protrudes it will damage and quickly wear out the carpet belt- similar to when a front roller screw becomes loose and sticks out of the body putting holes on the part of the carpet, except this could be worse.

Sorry, A for effort but it's just not something you want to do.

I'm guessing you did this because the holes in the body wore out so the screws would not keep it tight, and this was to re-use this part to save money. nothing wrong with trying to get more life out of a part and while the body is not cheap really this will end up costing more as it will ruin another part- the carpet belt, which is also not cheap. Think of it this way, the roller body was designed this way for a reason, with tapered screws that fit into tapered holes so they are flush with the body, and that is to prevent damage to the carpet belt and keep the body tight. If you add something to it that protrudes it will damage the carpet.

So by ordering a replacement body for this while it may not seem like it at the time, you will actually end up saving money by not damaging carpets with it.

                  OUCH
I'd weld around the hole and retaper the hole with a drill before I'd try that. Ummmmm NOT that I EVER had to do that or anything

And I've never had to hang a broken cushion weld with a truck tie down to keep it going through league....lol

At least this way you could make it flush with the roller body- as long as there was no way it could damage the carpet but still keep the body tight.

I agree with everyone that the "right" way to fix it is to buy a new assembly, but if a center is struggling badly financially and cannot afford to buy one, what are some acceptable ways to get more miles out of a part like this? Someone has suggested filling the hole with weld and redrilling. What else can you do?

If you need to get this part back in the machine due to financial reasons - lock the doors and declare bankruptcy

There is no way to salvage this roller body

It has been said many times above - it will cost you more to put it back in - even if you weld and grind the allen screws

                        Disassemble and fix correctly

I had a 4:1 go bad and I've never seen or done one before. Trying to search the depths of the forums, YouTube videos, it didn't seem too bad....
