i am thinking of sending one of my pinchaser's to school so he can learn the 82-70's faster. do any of you guys think it's worth the 350 bucks it cost? i need his help and i don't have enough time to teach him everything and he seems like a quick learner.

thanks for your input!!!

Woah, they have a school?
For only 350 clams, how much do they really teach you? How long is it? Does it just cover /70's or ball returns also? What electrical is covered? How about Lanes/gutters/kickbacks? Where is it? Where am I? What's going on here?

I say send him, with a bottle of ginko pills and a supply of red bull.

Re: stahl's 70's school

We are sending one of our new guys to it this summer. Tom Stahl is a GREAT 70's guy. They assign each Mech. their own machine to teardown and build back. Mostly a pinspotter school, doing mostly wrenching type stuff, nothing upfront. Our guy is going to school in the Twin Cities, MN - not sure if they have school other places or not. Heard this is a great school, but we'll find out. For $350, at least I know he will be sitting in a machine for 14 hours a day for 5 days...gotta pick up something from that, right?

For the price you will learn a lot of things AMF doesn't teach, you know the easier way thats been field proven and some of the shortcuts that tech. support won't tell you about ,as a Stahl's dist. this would be a worthy school to attend. As you can tell by their parts book there are a lot of parts and ideas that have been improved and Stahl's puts a lot of them to use. Unlike AMF. Have a good time.

Re: stahl's 70's school

Hello, We are writing to let you know how to get more information on Stahl's Seventy's Pinspotter School and more details about it.
Stahl's Seventy's holds several 82-70 Pinspotters schools each year. If you want to learn the easiest way to tear, down, make adjustments, rebuild and troubleshoot your machines; this is the school for you.
Each mechanic is assigned a machine to tear down, make adjustments, rebuild and troubleshoot their particular machine.
Special emphasis is put on the following: Distributor, Sweep, Table, Switch settings, shuttle, troubleshooting and motors. You will also be able to get information on Chassis, ball returns and foul lights.
This course is very comprehensive. We suggest you bring a notebook and keep a good set of notes, with all this information it is best to not rely on your memory. You will also have classroom time and those dreaded TESTS!
The first school will be held June 18 - 22 from 8am - 6pm Monday thru Friday. I can provide you with a list of nearby Hotel/Motels. This school is almost full. We will also be having schools in July and August. We are considering doing a school in Des Moines and a 30's school in Missouri. If you have any other questions or would like information mailed to you, you can call 952-432-2231 or email at amfpinman@yahoo.com
Thank You for your interest.

Kudos on the Stahl's Seventy's school...worth every penny. Excellent coverage on electrical and the switches. And it's fun, too.
And they do try to answer any bowling-related equipment question when time permits.
