Pins - AMF vs Max
We have been running max for a few years now. AMF sent us 2 test sets. They fell over fine. There was one problem. The AMF pins had double shuttling problems as soon as I stuck them in. I ran the for 2 weeks and jerked them out finially. No double shuttles since. I thought you 70 guys might like this info. As far as max scoring we have had 30 award scores this season.

Re: Pins - AMF vs Max
I've always preffered the MAX over the AMF.
Scoring is much better and alot less out-of-ranges. I know I'm in the minority here, but that's just what I've noticed from running them in several centers. I also notice the Amflites swell up more in the bellies causing problems. :p"Where are we going, and why are we in a hand basket?"

Re: Pins - AMF vs Max
Ed,
I shipped your mag pin today. We actually use the score king wich is a max with the black pro pin base. Not one failure on the bases. About 10 lost due to neck or belly bust in 7 months of high lineage out or 320 pins.

Re: Pins - AMF vs Max
Oh dear Lord.
We have had the displeasure of running B-Max pins all season. Constantly finding broken ones, replacing them with Amflite II's and Vultex II's that were laying around.
No shuttle problems or other problems with them getting stuck in the machine somewhere. They just bust. Usually at the bottom, with the ring breaking or the bottom of the Surelyn cracking.
I get a call from someone saying "broken pin on 21," go sit on it, and lo and behold, another B-Max has bit the dust. Typical of Brunswick quality.

Re: Pins - AMF vs Max
Well I would have to say that the AMFlite 2's run very well our A2's. We have had them in 7 months now and I have had to pull only three out with bad necks. These didn't show until a few weeks ago. The house I used to work in runs MAx pins and they ran terribly in their A2s and we would find broken necks or bases all the time(they are switching to AMF). As far as scoring not so sure the Max pins win that category either. I don't find them all that great to bowl against. All in all I think the AMflites are a proven performer.

Re: Pins - AMF vs Max
Anyone ever try the Twister? We had them in a pair of machines for the summer and they did hold up pretty good. They are way to expensive though. Nearly twice the price and they scratch up just as easy as their wooden counterparts. But being of completely plastic, they should last a long time and the bottoms are not an issue - they are solid.
Consequently, we have taken them out during the fall leagues because some of our bowlers felt it was unfair that theri pins were different. Not that they were scoring easier or harder - just different.

Re: Pins - AMF vs Max
I have been using the PBA Gold pins for the last two seasons. Before that I used AMF.
Comparison?
Well let me put it this way, when I bought the PBA pins, Bruns gave me a 18 month warrenty...My plan was to use them every day up to the last day of the 18 months...didn't make it...Out of 21 sets (10 lanes), I sent 2 sets of broken pins back after 4 months, 2 more after another 5 months of use...sent all the rest back at the end of the 18 months.
End result: 16 new sets of pins out of 21 after 18 months of use. (thanks to Bruns for the Free Pins!!!) I will get 3 years use out of these pins, but I gotta tell ya, they suck....I never had an AMF neck break-The PBAs that is a normal occurance...The black bases fall out like nothing...keep the glue around...
Oh one more problem...The Black neckcrown is hell for the scoring system to see...
But on average with the free pins, I would do it again, and it did draw some business from people wanting to bowl on the PBA's, but not enough to seriously notice on the bottom line.

Re: Pins - AMF vs Max
Hello all, I have used AMF pins which worked out ok. But I have found that the Diamond Duramid held up the best and gave me the best scoring. So for the price they can not be beat.

Re: Pins - AMF vs Max
we use classic pins produced by ????
they are great scoring is verry good, more pinaction then ever. the wood is much harder then any other pins so the bellies stey good only more brokken necks and the pin must stand only on the nylon ring and not on the wood (if that is the case you will have tons of OOR)
thanks EDJE
