  • pin curtain

Just wandering if anyone had there pit curtains unhooked from the cushion and if it caused any poblems. We are having alot of pins standing in curtain causing mis-scoring.
I know that the GS machines have a free hanging curtain and was wandering if anyone had tried it with AMF machines.

    Re: pin curtain

The only problem I could see with doing that is the curtain would be too long. It would probably drag on the carpet belt. I like the idea though. I might try it.
Give me a hammer and some duct tape and I can fix it!

      Re: pin curtain

I think I might try this. I am getting sick and tired of sewing the same pin curtains year after year. Plus this idea would probably make getting in and out of the machine easier. But I'll let someone else try it first.

        the only problem would be....

the curtain would be hanging down not more than 1 inch or so from the pindeck...against ABC regs.

unless your talking about hanging the curtain from the middle of the machine where the L-beam is...but then youll have "Larry Launch" causin pins to wack the distributor or get into the ball return area...i have been lazy and just left the curtain hung over the cushion and youd be amazed where pins end up...lol

i take that back....the pin curtain would be hanging 6-9 inches from the back of the pin deck...not more than 1 inch from the end of the table....lol

Not only would it look bad from the front,But if you have ever been hit by a flying pin that was launched out of a machine you would learn that it is not a good practice to leave them down.

              Re: pin curtain

Sorry,I missread the post. I have seen curtains that hang from the rod and were not attatched to the cushion. They did have some that were tore up a little and I could see where flying pins could still be a little dangerous.

hey masternut, if you are refering to the pins getting stuck between the machine side frame and the pin curtain where it likes to stay so the camera's can see them, try this, get some pin coat and thinner from your distributor and coat your pin curtains to make them stiffer. i have done it and it works great. also word of warning keep your hard pads on the cushion weldment to protect the pin curtain from hitting the weldment and putting holes in them. the mechanic before me removed them all and when i got there 39 of my 48 had holes in them that i had to patch up and had to replace some and they are not cheap !!!!

By the way, what do your guys use to sew your curtains with when you get a tear in them. I've been using 100lb fishing line. Works o.k., but it seems that I have to re-sew them ever year. Just wondering.

                    Coors,

What's the ABC reg on how close the pin curtains are from the pindeck?

                      Re: pin curtain

i cannot exactly quote the exact reg...however now ill investigate.....but there is a reg about having a "rear plank" no less than x inches away from the back of the pindeck...a curtain may not count as a "plank"(or what ever the term is)...but it would definately be a gray area.....especially with 7-10 conversions with curtains hanging no more than a foot from the back of the pindeck
