Re: 82-30 How to table level
Before you start adjusting the table level, take a few seconds and check out your table gears. A badly worn center could change the adjustment by a 1/4 inch. All the upper pads must have the same amount of wear. You can't have eight indented upper pads and two new flat pads. Put the table down on a set of good wood (180). Use the tip of your finger as a gauge to check the gap between the upper track and lower track. The tip of your finger will just fit between the tracks.( 1/4 to 3/8 ) After you determine the overall pattern of gaps, use the table rods to achive the equal gap that you need. After this operation, be sure to lube and adjust the star latch on each cell. This method is very quick and easy to do. If you have the molded gripper pads and flat upper pads the adjustments should be simple. I miss the 30's. I miss ball doors and sweep tracks.lol."Gun control is the policy of tyrants"

Re: 82-30 How to table level
amfpinboy just about covered it! We used to call it pinky bangin. In addition to checking the gears I found the idler bushing (The center gear bushing) to cause problems...one other thing I found for smoooooth spotting is to get the table back as far as possible. The reason is that the 82/30 is so old, the pindecks have been cut a long ways down over the years thus changing the arc ratio to a greater diameter. I've even had to break the welds on the backend feet stops and move the machine back to achieve a smooth spot. If you try this or cutting down the kickbacks (to achieve the same results), make sure you stay within ABC's Specs.

Re: 82-30 How to table level
Update: The adjustments I gave you, should be done after you use the line level on the upper tracks to check for cell leveling (front to back tilt). * Sounds like TECH_MECH has seen his share of 30's."Gun control is the policy of tyrants"

Re: 82-30 How to table level
I've used the AMF installation jig in the past for starters. But the problem occurs when the pin decks were cut alot. Your Table gears will be off up to 3/4 of a tooth, causing pins to wobble and/or the cups hitting on retreating.
I've found that most tables have to be moved back on 82/30's as opposed to forward on an 82/70.
