  • Qubica/Expander Interface

Tech, I think your the man for this one.....

Finally got qubica in...Boss sprung for expanders across the house...but i got two that won't interface....& it's within the chassis....the non interfacing moves with the chassis.

the expander receives the camera input..but the chassis won't act upon it....just defaults to the old (brunswick strike cycle...LOL)

on one chassis i loss shadow/instructomat.

any tricks you learned would be greatly appreciated...

    Coors:

    On your expanders...

Check and see if there is a bad relay inside your chassis. In order to obtain shortened strike/gutter ball cycles, there shoud be a sweep reverse relay somewhere in you electrical line...usually inside the chassis. When you mentioned the problem stays with the chassis, did you swap boards in the chassis or just move the chassis to another pair? Might be a defective board...but from what it sounds like is a bad or flaky sweep reverse relay.
The purpose of the sweep reverse relay is to allow the table to be bypassed and the sweep return to 0 degrees.

Hope this sits well with you....lol

          Re: Qubica/Expander Interface

          Bowling Guy,

FYI, Qubica doesn’t have a manual yet. They do however have the best tech support I've seen in the bowling industry.

Coors, what type of expander do you have the XLS or the F-box (from Qubica), and /or the expander inside the chassis from Omega Tek?

I'm sure you are knowledgeable enough to swap out suspected parts...if your not for sure ask deadwood...LOL

Anyway, regarding your loss of instrutomat...(providing problem doesn’t move with the chassis) look inside your A&MC box. Those guys can really be fumble fingers inside that little box. Also we had problems with staples falling into the chassis creating a dead short. A staple might have been grounded to the t2 circuit from a staple or the wire itself got disconnected somehow. Other installation problems are pinched wires in the mechanics control box.

Was everything working after installation was complete? Or did you put in expansions after installation?

Little more info...I'm sure if we put our heads together we'll get it!

            Bowlin Guy.....manuals cost extra....LOL
            and i cant read anyhow...LOL

its not that big a deal...i was just tired and frustrated last night....and figured maybe you and/or dutch or someone else learned some quick tricks. the expanders go in the PC1 slot....we havent used those in almost 20 years...(since 1981)...i was kinda thinkin....maybe that may have somethin to do with it. It works fine the old way.....it just gets goofy when you pop an expander in it...and those same Expanders are fine in other chassis....I'll e-mail ya the details...Thx Tech

              Re: Qubica/Expander Interface

It's cool Coors...Were not running any expanders on our ancient Omega Teks. Just the XLS box on the curtain wall for the "short cycles". It works in conjunction with the six box.

Hey did you change the monitor board in the presents of the trainer? I insisted on it, so there would be someone there to pick me up just incase it shot me 75' through the masking units.. LOL

We have had about 7 or 8 monitor boards go out in 2 years...most of them in the first 6 months.

Also like AMF electronics don't trust any thing. I installed all my spare parts and replacement parts immediately. Found 2 to be defective!!!

Good Luck, It's not perfect but it's the best out there!

                Coors,
As for the lost instructomat, I’ve never run into that problem. The lost, short X cycle I have.
Have you tried to move the jumper (in the middle of the expander card) to the lower position & disconnect the TBL cable? Kat’s right about the SWP rev. relay. The one on the expander is the one you want to check. If you have another SWP rev. relay in the chassis, remove it. The manual says that it is bypassed but can cause needless power consumption if it is left in. Also, check the new wires that you put into the C-1. (The ones that plug into the exp. right by the relay) Maybe one has a bad contact or maybe 2 of them got swapped while you were installing them.
There’s an LED on the bottom RH side of the exp. It’s part of an inhibit circuit (for the TBL I think). Does it light up during the X cycle? If you call Omega-tek’s tech. support, you’ll need to be able to tell them if it’s lighting or not.

                  Re: Qubica/Expander Interface

I WAS JUST WONDERING, WHAT WAS THE THE PRICE FOR THOSES BOXES. QUBICA QUOTED US ONE PRICE ONE WEEK, AND ANOTHER PRICE A WEEK LATER. WE ARE DOING A 12 LANE ADD ON AND WE ARE CONSIDERING ANOTHER SCORING SYSTEM BECAUSE THEY WILL NEVER GIVE US A STRAIGHT ANSWER. ALSO, THEY DO HAVE A MANUAL BUT THEY DO NOT WANT TO GIVE IT OUT BECAUSE THEY WANT YOU TO USE THEIR TECH. SUPPORT.
