1st and 2nd ball lites
I am having a problem with no ball lites on the masking unit. I am running 82-70 chassis with omega-tek boards and also the 5 board system in some, and have MENDES masking units that have only 1st ball/2nd ball lites. I cannot get either one of the lites to come on. I know the problem is in the chassis, but where do I look? Is the problem on the motherboard? Thqnks to all thay reply. PaulTags: None

Re: 1st and 2nd ball lites
Paul:
Having neither 1st or 2nd ball lights could be the klixon in the chassis or one of the diodes on the heatsink under the the T1 transformer. The pin in the Elco plug for the 1st ball is E24 and for 2nd ball E25 the power is E29.
Let us know how you make out.

This problem sounds like the heat sink is grounded. Take the bottom of the chassis off and check for anything touching the heat sink. If something is touching it you should find a burned spot on it. Don’t forget to check the T1 transformer if the top support is broken it can drop down enough to touch the heat sink. One other thing to check are the mounting screws for the heat sink, these screws should go through insulators to insulate the heat sink from the box.

Paul:
To check the klixon just jumper the wires
to check a diode take it out of the circuit and with a volt ohm meter it should read in one direction and not the other, you do this by swapping the leads. If it reads in both directions or not at all it is bad.

*sigh* Hello friends..
I had a 4:1 go bad and I've never seen or done one before. Trying to search the depths of the forums, YouTube videos, it didn't seem too bad....

Adapting the Bluffton end cap & terminal board kit to Franklin BE (and FE) motors.
Left a rant about this in the bowling forum…
I’ve already repaired a a number of Franklin FE motors using the Bluffton-style end cap and terminal board kit (090-004-582)....

Turret clutch rebuild
At what thickness do you replace the clutch face.
Is there a minimum dimension from the clutch face to the rivet.
Thanks...
