  • B.E. motor worm gear repairs with hand tools

Just wondering if anybody has replaced worms with hand tools.

If you have, how did you check and correct run-out.

How many in-house repairs does it take to re-coup the cost of the dial indicator.

How did you build your run-out test rig.

    Thanks for any reply,

    Jonas

Thanks felix, yeah I got a few that need new worms and brass wheels. I thought maybe someone here has done it and could tell me what to watch out for. I'm not sure how to true the assembly once I have it together. Hit it with a mallet? Turn the worm? I guess I'll find out this summer.
