• Thought you might need a fix

I think they spaced out AMF's stop of the month. So here's one to tide you over.
List possible causes and how you fixed it.

Your shuttle/bin distance is not good, or do you run this machine with 30 pins?
Or a broken bin strap at #7???

On the 7 pin standing up...I redrill the holes on the pinholder to relocate it more toward the rear of the machine. I have lowered the shuttle before but when your lanes have been sanded within a 1/16 inch of their life...drastic measures are needed.

Nice pics peppe!

After checking the pin holders and strap, the bin needs to be lowered. Just re-drill the bin hanger bolt holes about half way in between the standard holes. If there's a lot of distance between the shuttle and the cups, just bolt up the other set of holes and drop it all the way. It's a quick, easy fix.

Hey guys, if I remember correctly you can swap out the LH and the RH support brackets for your shuttle and that will lower it. (I think)

Re: Thought you might need a fix

Don't forget to check the following:

a) Misaligned shuttle side to side. (Fixed by moving spring to another hole on the 7 hole strap). This could cause the shuttle to be in further on the 7 side.

b) Worn pin holders.

c) Lack of sufficient spring tension in the shuttle spring tube...happens alot when the pinchasers turn the rod to adjust shuttle, instead of the rod end.

Good pics.

Re: Thought you might need a fix

1)check shuttle height to bin then back of bin to shuttle distance and adjust acording.
2)check pin holder and pin strap and replace as needed.
3)if problem still occurs "shim the bin" cut a section of a trash carpet belt the width of the bin and long enough to fold into 3 = parts then fasten it to the head of the bin via wire ties( nylon fasteners) this will act as a 9 pin note (9 doesn't 2x'S shuttle because of the switch lever)providing (i failed to mention to check the condition of the butt guide shock mounts) will work to help stop double shuttling

Re: Thought you might need a fix

I totally agree with all of the above,
while I'm checking to see which one(s) of those fixes to try, I'd definitely be cleaning off the straps, little rubber thingys, pin holders, cup liners, etc.
May just be that these things and/or the pins have gotten too cruddy and are sticking to eachother.

Maybe the shuttle is hitting the bin because its to high.
