new dist clutch Idea
I think I have come up with somthing some of you might be interested in. Now to do this takes about five to ten minutes to do. What you do is get you some of the new finger slide guide inserts preferably the white round one but the black square ones work to. Now you get your front clutch plate and drill four holes at the top, bottom, and one on each side the is 11/64 in diameter. you then press the inserts in the holes now it will take some pressure but you want that so they won't come out. now this is the best part, you take the front plate and you drill the same size hole in the stop tab and insert one of the slide guides. now what this does is it insures proper tripping and less friction on the stop blades. now for the rest of the plate you put the plate on with the four sliders with no and I repeat no friction disc. yes you read this right no friction disc.. now this may be hard to believe but I have tested this on four machines in three monthes and they are still running with zero jams and the only lube I use is where the pinion gear touches the dist shaft. The clutch I just described is an open free air setup that stays cool and is oil resistant. I also put a drop of oil on the plates it did not matter the guides went right through and did not slip once.Tags: None

Re: new dist clutch Idea
I have done every thing possible to make this clutch not work and it still just keeps on ticking. The latest test was torun a machine for twelve hours strait on auto cycle to see how warm the clutch got and it never got as warm as the other clutches I have on. Im wiating for more snap in fingers from vantage so I can do the rest of my house this way.

Re: new dist clutch Idea
Dustin, Fern Bowl?? I thought I heard the roof fell in at that place. I worked for Gill Fredricks for about a year or so, back in 1984-85. Worked in Fern Bowl, Capital, Joyland with Donnie, and Okalona, the place with 6 lanes on the back side that had, I think it was called rapidscore - had some thing that would swing down in front of the pins. Dennis still have a problem with left handers??

Marty The roof fell in at Okalona Not Fern bowl. And as far as I know Dennis still has a problem with leftys could you elaborate why . Crud 100 units is alot of oil but I only nedd fifty or so to make my bowlers happy any more they complian tha the lanes are to slick. I wish I could post some pictures of the clutch but I have no camera. If you want to talk to me about the asembly Please call me at 502-468-0037 this is my cell phone and I have it on me 24-7 and will be happy to talk about it. I know have also done a triangle set up with three of the sliders. This will still work but you have to use a little more tention on the spring. talk to you all later.

Re: new dist clutch Idea
Just thought I'd let you guys know I pulled off the first clutch I put together, it has been 2500games since I first put this one on and there is no wear to speak of anywhere. The back plate has a nice even spot all a round the plate This setup won't skip and miss some spots onthe disc like a friction disc will.

Re: new dist clutch Idea
I remember soom league over at Joyland that we would put out just a very easy shot, the only rule was you were not allowed to bowl an honor score or he would change the shot and make you bowl on slop for a few weeks. Never did know why he didnt like leftys, just know he didnt.

Thinkin' of also trying a "5 er"(star pattern) or perhaps mounting 'nubbies' to BACK plate!
Keep the good stuff comin'!

Re: new dist clutch Idea
Noolio The reason I haven't tried to mount them to the back plates is because the metel is a little thicker on the rear plate and I don't know if the Inserts would hold very well or even snap in for that matter. If you do this please let me know how it works. I should be getting my extra parts eaither Monday or Tuesday so I can make some more.

RESCINDED!!!
Sorry to all for the inconvience!
Dustin and I chatted for a while this evening. Misunderstandings were cleared up.
And I understand why he would want to work in Colorado instead of Kentucky.
Thanx guys. Dustin will post some pictures of his invention soon!

Re: new dist clutch Idea
To all:
Necessity is the mother of invention! That is what fuels progress.
However in this case the original clutch design is proven in my eyes. There is no overheating problm with the original disc du to the slip worm. The overheating problem comes with all the direct drive clutches on the market. With a little grease or oil on the original pinion you would have NO overheating problem with the genuine clutch. Also the original clutch gives you the most drive due to more surface!

Re: new dist clutch Idea
Chad the Owner of western called me I didn't call him so shut the hell up.. don't believe me ask him and no I was not trying to get a job back in colorado. I had called him prior to me leaving to come down here. and he was trying to find some one to take your spot when school started again I guess. He said they were putting in new lanes. And yes I came up with this Idea. Don't you think if someone would have thought of this earlier that it would have come out by now every thing else has. And as for your dillusion of you becoming head Mechanic some day well that is just a pipe dream any way. And If your so smart why oh why are you still working in bowling centers for min wage. And why are you working where you work.
