im about to adopt a new center. the only part im not familiar with are the "vantage" upfront powerlifts. the owner says they have a problem with circuit boards fryin or fuses blowin. anybody know about that stuff?? i remember a conversation in here about (i think it was) Options powerlifts fryin boards. . . .is that the same problem?

can ya please give me a heads up on any other problems with that model so i dont look clueless when i walk in . . . but then again, i guess i always look clueless

thx

Re: vantage powerlifts

We just installed the "shorties" version (the one's guy were talkin' about last month or so).

DUSTIN was telling me something about these boards taking 'shock' as they begin their 1st 'S' turn(hopin'he reads this soon & refills us in).

Also beware(as they come out of box);
*Snug ALL bolts{slow down 'V' boys.Found this with P.B.L.'s when converting from kickers some 8 or 9 years ago too.[also, where's the lube?]}
*Check drive belt tension(6 sider[they tell me this belt is pricey ])
*Pay x-tra attn. to ends of upper wheel(outside edges of wheel)in relation to air /light gap of lift rails directly behind.
Close one eye if you hafta'...
Cause I'm finding on MORE THAN ONE,we're having to shim (3 cases so far...)the "odd" side,AT LEAST one washer-sometimes two/or combo of add 1 or two to odd side,remove 1 from even side etc.to achieve centering!

Like I say,they're new-so the guys & me are slowly learnin' too.
Just a couple-a-things we've happened upon so far.
Hopin' to see more goodies soon on this thread.

Re: vantage powerlifts

we installed the vantage powerlifts last summer and are still fighting with the lifts and with vantage. they told us we are the only ones having the exact problem you are having. the problem with the powerboards as far as i can tell is that they are just too weak for the lifts and for the motors. the motor fuse blows all the time and eventually the boards catch on fire. they sent us a couple of new boards to try and so far they seem to be working but i believe they are going in the wrong direction. also beware of that the clutch assemblies on both the upper and lower shaft assemblies prematurely wear. vantage has sent me new boards with thicker solder lines on the boards and with 20 amp fuses. if you get them check them to make sure they are not cold soldered.

Just curious,

Since Vantage attempts to clone AMF...

Is it possible that AMF's C-90 board will work?

I have only had 2 AMF boards blow in 6 years.
