I have a large bowling center, and unfortunatly I have had to hire and New mechanic just to maintain the bumper system that we just installed... The problem is the levers keep breaking every time we use them... Has anyone had this problem and what have you done to solve it...

    Thanks for your Help

    Re: DBA Bankshot Bumpers

Are you letting adults bowl on these with heavy balls? If you are DON'T. They are not meant to handle in the impact of high speed 16 pound balls. If this is not the case, and adults are not bowling on these bumpers, then I don't know what to tell you other than call DBA and ask them what the He** is going on.
Give me a hammer and some duct tape and I can fix it!

No, adults are not bowling on these bumpers... They are used by young children that are under the age of 12... and most of the time the only have to take the impact of a 6lb ball... I don't understand why I had this problem and now I say this cause it is not longer my problem... all I can say is good luck to the New Head mechanic!

        Re: DBA Bankshot Bumpers

The vertical supports you speak of are an old style support, they have introduced a new support made of a stronger material. It is suggested that you order these new vertical supports and replace the first five on each side. LH support is part # 84-200454-002 RH support is part# 84-200454-001 new E-clip is part #11-537050 These parts were being replaced under warranty but I don't know if they still are. Also the have a much stronger E-clip for the pins that should be replaced. Refer to part# above. I did this to all of my bumpers and have had no problems since.

Thanks Jerrid for the reply, unfortunatly these bumpers were just installed in the last three months and came with the upgrade... I was aware of this upgrade and Called Brunswick about this and they said that I already had them... Is there some special training that I should do with the desk, maybe they are pulling up too hard on them,or what else could be the problem... They are still made out of urethane plastic and the are still breaking rapidly... any suggestions, thanks!

Besides the upgrade, I dont think there is much else you can do. Just make sure your counter and/or customer service staff is raising and lowering them properly I've seen some guys just push them down with their foot rather than use the tool. Maybe you should have some of them replace a couple of lanes worth of brackets, then maybe they will be a little more careful with them. I have only had to replace 2 vertical supports in the last 4 months after I changed them to the newer style. There must be some reason why so many are breaking?
