Like most of you guys nowadays, we have a computer in the workshop, and we keep a constant "running" inventory record on the computer.
We are using Excel at the moment, but I was wondering if any of you guys had a proper inventory program that you use, or maybe even one specially designed for AMF machines.
hey pitboss, why do you not recommend the a-2 tech. program? i have it at my brunswick and amf center and haven't had any major problems with it. though getting the unlock codes is a pita. i think jim a little too paranoid about his program.

A little too paranoid would be weak. If you have your computer in your shop like me, then problems happen. I've had to re-install the software several times, and trying to get the codes is a BIG PITA. Last time Jim told me to be sure I rename my computer the same (?) and the codes will work again. Yeah, right.
When you pay $100 or so for anything, you should'nt have to pull teeth to get it to work. Besides, how many mechs do you know that trade software?
jim can be reached at:JOsdale@A-2Technologies.com. i've tried reaching him at his "800" number and have yet to get a return call(been about 2 weeks). been rrying to get unlock codes for a month now .

i'm trying to get him our proof of purchase. he won't send the codes without it and i'm trying to get in touch with him so i can fax it to him. i thinkthis will be the last time i buy a program from him.....oh well. just too much of a hassel.

I just took over the head mechanic position at my house about a year or so ago (after being a pinchaser & 2nd mechanic for about 10 years), and there was no computers at all there... Since I actually have a PC tech background, I decided to put one in (now we have a bunch because of the auto. scoring), anyways, a friend of mine gave me a copy of the program they use at a tractor trailer garage for inventory... it's not elegant, and it's a bit ungainly, but it runs solid, and works pretty good. It's made by Nathan Hunt software (www.nhuntsoftware.com), and it's called Maintenance Parts Bin. You might want to check it out...

I've have had Jim's A-2 Technologies inventory program for well over 5 years now. As a matter of fact, I have the original DOS version. At the time I aquired it (before Brunswick got involved), Jim only had the Brunswick version, and I adapted it to my 70's inventory. It's still going strong.
As for Jim, my experiences have been nothing short of pleasant and prompt. I have had several self-imposed problems with the program over the 5 years, and I have never had to wait more than a couple of days for Jim to respond. If I have to ever replace the program, I will not hesistate to buy from him again.
Certainly, we cannot please veryone. If a customer sends us the registration and proof of purchase, we send the codes within one day. And, by the way, the software runs without any unlock codes for 45 days, so why wait until the last minute?
We have been using the A-2 technologies program for over 3 years now and have absolutely no problems. When e-mailed Jim has always gotten
back in touch the same day.
Our inventory is simple. we stock at least 6 of every machine part. Have a starting total, replace what is used throughout year, by the month, and don't need a computer. Pretty simple eh!!!
Most mechanics at large centers like mine-64 lanes- simply don't have the time to do or keep an inventory on a computer. We just track parts usage on paper and re-order what we use from month to month. Works great for us!!!
Can somebody give an explaniton how pins 2, 3, 6 are supposed to be connected. I had a shortcircuit there for the drive motor connection because of water leakage.
I have a distributor that is pulling the belt hard to the left in the nine pin position (and possibly 6 pin), but seems fine in the other spots. As you can see the residue and...
I have several Pin Elevators that I believe to be out of round on my XLi's and was curious if anyone has ever run across this before and is so, what you did about it.
