Re: pins under bounceplate
yeah, those AMF pumkin carpets smell pretty bad. I got two of them and that will be the last two. They are so stiff, your arms look like you were in a fight with a cat when your done putting them in. I think I'll stick to the Vantage premium carpet. Installs easily and tough as a tank.

I got just the carpet and bounce board assy removal and install down to 31 minutes by myself to remove a pin under the B.board assy mostly all you need to do is pop the F. roller out and reach under there Has any one noticed how awfull the AMF pumpkin carpets smell

Re: pins under bounceplate
I don't see any reason to pull the bounceplate to get a pin out from under it... usually we just pop the front roller, slide it out the ball door, then reach under and grab the pin. Most of the time, the pin manages to get it's head out through the hole behind the front roller opposite the ball door, and sits there rolling.
I usually find one here or there every couple months or so...nothing that particularly worries me... it's more of an inconvenience than anything.

Re: pins under bounceplate
Pit jobs suck, but I'm getting used to doing them alone.I've broken 3 pit support brackets since Christmas.Last night I replaced one in just over an hour, alone.
I did set a new record though..The last 3 pit jobs yielded..NO BLOOD !!!!
All my knuckles still have skin !
I have one machine that LOVES to have a pin sticking thru the hole in the side of the frame behind the front roller
I've pulled the roller & bounce plate twice ,removed the pin...and within a month, another one gets in there
I'm gonna let it saw this on in half !

Plenty of parts here in the states.
Are you an AMF corporate owned house?

I see isolated occurances of this maybe once every 3 shifts or so
Always occuring in pits with worn carpet here .
I haven't seen it in a M/C with nice fresh carpet
That poses the question :-
Anyone else out there having problems getting parts like Carpets , Shafts & other Critical spares from AMF warehouse at present ?
We are unable to get "LOTS" of mission critical spares here in Australia , Local Warehouse has them all on "Back-Order" from the States .
Are you folks in the states in the same situation ?

Re: pins under bounceplate
CASEY, No it's not just you. The pin usually follows the paddle across the saddle and when the paddle goes back, it can push the pin inside the carpet. The carpet will suck it in and around in a split second! I've had the new stiff AMF pumpkin/tan carpets with a pin inside, within a week. I didn't think a pin could wind up in there, because they're so stiff. Most of my carpets are fairly new and we tear out the bounce plates at least every other year, yet the pins still get in there. So, when you hear that low rumble, go get the tools.

pins under bounceplate
I just ran across a pin between my carpet and the bottom of the bounceplate. Was scratching my head as to why my pit was banging around. Has anyone come across this? I'll chalk it up to a worn out carpet that allowed the paddle to kick the pin under the carpet...but as to how the pin got under the bounceplate that is beyond me!
Is it just me or is rebuilding pits the worst job?Tags: None
