• Metal kickback fiber panels

The ball door side covers SOFL heads, I assume, to prevent pin damage. But, the common side doesn't cover anything except a smooth, flat piece of metal. Does it have a purpose, other than to make you itch from the fiberglass?

These things are a PITA. How important would you say they are?

Someone started making them out of clear plastic. Does anyone remember who?

Hey Dutch, I believe the clear plastic panels came from Stahls.

Invest in a 1/4" Pop Rivet tool and the facing will stay in place year after year. I popped for the $100 Big Daddy from GRAINGERS. Worth every penny.

Fairly... the sideplate covers are supposedly softer than a bowling ball, and won't 'scuff' them. If you leave one of the covers off, the paint will wear thru, and the metal will cause dull spots in a ball when it gets hit... doesn't really hurt the ball, but try to explain that to one of those perennially-idiotic people (normally known as a bowler) why his nice, shiny new $200 ball (that he doesn't know how to throw worth $h!t anyway) is developing dull spots in it.

Other than that, they're basically useless, and were designed and installed to annoy mechanics.

        Have a nice day.
