  • SS contactor smoked

On Saturday I had one of the table capacitors blow up. When it happened it fried the SS contactor. I have the CB inline with the power wire. Has anyone else had this happen?

    Re: SS contactor smoked

Yeh, I had one blow up right in my face a couple years ago.The bottom contacts on the contactor is the usual cause. It's always been the sweep for me.New contacts & a new cap.usually cures the problem.
    I never had a "10" ;..but ,one night after closing,..I did five " 2's" !

The contactor I smoked was a solid state from Bowltronics.

          King,
Pindecked is right that the problem is in your table or (more likely)in your sweep relay. It's however not only the lower contacts that cause the problem, it's a combination of one NC contactor keeps making contact when the relay is activated and the other is making contact with NO. This causes hot and zero parallel on one of your capicitors and will explode.

          Good Luck

          Martin
          So it goes.

I have about 12 solid state contactors installed. This is the 1st one that gave me a prob! I plan on replacing the rest of them.

                            Help!!!

Replaced the smoked contactor.....put it on a different lane and the table motor kicked on and ran contstantly. I hit the Cb on the wall before anything else went up in smoke.

What board(s) are you running in your chassis?

I've had Omega-Tek's do that to me. The board remembers what it was doing when the power was removed.

Will the TBL shut off from the control box? If it does, shut it off before you apply power. Once you've applied power, hit the stepper button. That should clear the memory & get you going again. If it doesn't, your problem is elsewhere.
