New To The Industry
Just finished my first week as a mechanic, and to tell you the truth, it was quite interesting. This is a very unique field. I hope to hear from some of you, and as my experience grows I hope to be able to participate in some of the forums.Necessity IS NOT the mother of invention. Laziness IS the mother of invention.Tags: None

Re: New To The Industry
In so many words, I quote Dante:
"Abandon Hope, Ye Who Enter Here"
Glad to have you aboard... Don't worry, after a while your attitude will change to fit in with the rest of us... (Machines were designed by three-handed demons, Bowlers are the enemy, Counter help usually would have a problem passing a reflex test and need a recipe to make ice, Belief that sleeping with pins crashing around you IS possible, stuff like that)
Just my $0.02 on the subject.

Chad - Sounds to me like you're hanging around with the wrong women. Gear lube & a bowling pin isn't my idea of a good lover.
Deadwood - So you're saying that your own death was the reason for your recent hiadas? We welcome your rebirth
Gaemes - Welcome aboard... You've come to the right place. I've been around bowling for more than 30 years & been a mechanic for about 1/2 of it. Even with all that experience, the other members of Bowl Tech teach me something new almost every day & I'm able to try something new with my machines about once a month.
We look forward to assisting with your education & hope that you'll have something to teach us too.

Re: New To The Industry
After reading everyone's posts here, I had to ask myself "What have I gotten into?". And I think it true to say "A pretty good group of folks". Guess I'll get back to the books. I'm at the part in my C training that explains why one should not use a hammer on microswitches. I tend to disagree, but I'm the new guy...Necessity IS NOT the mother of invention. Laziness IS the mother of invention.

Re: New To The Industry
Who called us good folks? We are all a bunch of backwoods morons who take our jobs seriously. This is not a business to be taken lightly. Only the strong really survive in this business (pinsetter maintenance). It is a hard, sometimes dirty and mostly forgotten but highly statisfying job. Just ask some of the guys like Mike and GPS and Ed Fox and Crud. I am very proud to be part of this brotherhood. When you get 5 years in you are really happy, but 30 woooooo hooooo you are ready for the funny farm.

Chad old mate ,
We DO REALLY NEED TO TALK !!
They are Pinsetters not Women :p
Being the older bloke that I am , perhaps I can give you some pointers in this area ?
Realistically "THE UGLY WOMAN AT THE CONTROL DESK" is a better option than a 82-30 / 70 / 90 / 8800 Gold on a cold night , I'll give you the SCOOP there !

Deadwood:
With enough field engineering you can get that square block into a round hole.
Tools needed:
1. Big Hammer
2. Wood glue
3. Wood dough to fill in the gaps left over.
Good luck.
Kat :p"Where are we going, and why are we in a hand basket?"

Adapting the Bluffton end cap & terminal board kit to Franklin BE (and FE) motors.
Left a rant about this in the bowling forum…
I’ve already repaired a a number of Franklin FE motors using the Bluffton-style end cap and terminal board kit (090-004-582)....

Turret clutch rebuild
At what thickness do you replace the clutch face.
Is there a minimum dimension from the clutch face to the rivet.
Thanks...
