The interlock circuit is not what causes problems.

I have to agree with Chad. I-locks are the result of a malfunction, not the cause.

The I-lock circuit is there to protect the machine from self-mutilation. Think of the things that could break if that circuit wasn't there… Sweep arms, decklights, RSC's, motors overheating (if the klixon malfunctions & doesn't trip), C-1 plugs, combo capacitors, etc.

I also have to agree with Chad and Dutch. The Interlock circuit saves the machine from some major damage that could otherwise cause some extensive downtime. Usually, if I get an Interlock it's a sign that there's a problem and the machine needs to be looked at. I bet I can count on one hand the number of interlocks I have in a year.

Guys - thanx!
I totally concur. When a machine IL's, it is a cry for help.
The machine is saying, "help me, my S is all F'd up! "

The GPS circuit is another way that the machine indicates it's hurt and impending doom.

These are ways that you can avert major repairs by identifying small problems before they start tearing apart the rest of the machine.

Brilliant design. A testament to the greatness of the old AMF.
