Some of you may have noticed some hesitation of the dist. moving pin to pin . This could be be a sign of worn out dist. tubes. (070-006-004) a good solution is to flip the 2 tubes with each other left to right and right to left, you will see different wear spots on each one so you can get a lot of years more use before buying new tubes. It wouldn't hurt to have a couple of spare tubes in case you run into bent ones. If you have a habit of bending tubes Stahl's makes a super tough tube that wont get bent.
To switch tubes remove the dist. belt, remove the adjusting rod at the upper end , remove the 4 roll pins at the back of the tubes. Sometimes a plastic mallet is needed to seperate the tubes from the carriage. slide the tube assemby out of the rollers that way you won't have to readjust them. Take the assembly to the shop to finish swapping the tubes. Before knocking out the front roll pins put a block of wood under the front carriage so the trip arms don't get bent or the tubes don't get bent.

Tip #2....

How to accomplish the same in 5 minutes....

Loosen the eccentric rollers just slightly on the tube....

Just don't make them too loose so that the carriage has too much play.

Thats was done when we first put the machines in, they came that way from another center, actually this is the third center they have been in. I ahve been in a few houses that have the same problem, no telling how old they are.

I am going back to the Vantage belts......

I was using the Quality orange belts.....however they started putting crap all over the eccentric rollers and tracking poorly.

The Vantage belts didnt seem to grab the Max pins.

Since my switch back to Amflites.....the Vantage belts are being reinstalled.

KING,
I have the same problem as you with the quality belt! I think the lane oil got to them
I was at DEADWOODS place a couple of weeks ago and
checked out those blue belts and they look good
but they don't grab the pins all that good!
I'M trying the white belt from murrey, and they seem to have 20% more grip to them!
.................................................. DEADWOOD,
try this so you can see for yourself, stop a pin on the distributor with your finger on the blue belt then push it backwards, then do it on one that has the white belt on and you'll find out the white belt grips better.
the one's I tested were # 8 & 9 at that time 8
was blue and 9 was white! let me know what you think. I'M going to put the white on at mission!
that's just my opinion man! CUJO

Crud: Its a old tale...like you said every belt is different. I ran into a few of those blue belts that were different. But... The green ones from vantage are the best ive seen yet! I strongly suggest you try one of those crud as well. I had replaced the one on #9 because pins started to fall off the turn pan and hit the suicide bar. #8??? Ive always thought that belt was good. Hmm... Hey grud...the LABA get to you yet?

G: I agree...I havent ordered any more yet because i want to monitor the texture after a few months of them being in contact with the oil. If they get hard im not going to order them again. Also, im waiting to see if the cloth bottom starts to frey from the bending of the belt.

But brand new...WOO HOO!

just my $.02

my fav is still the Quality belts. my first have been on since august and i've seen no problems. i have i think 3 of the vantage blue/teal deals, they're nice (#2 on my list), not Q to me tho. the rest are a mix of old nitrel's, black rough's, a few odd free bee's, and standard blue belts.

how long have your Q belts been on king?
the first few months, some dists had like an orange fuzz on them, but it wasnt a PJ causer or anything. and after a year the Q belts are still soft and grabby. time will tell i guess.

king, if your gonna heave them, send them to me!!!

COORS,
the once orange quality belts in my place are black now and I tried to clean a couple with no luck if you want them let me know!! I will be changing all of them in the next few weeks.24 lanes worth I guess we put too
much oil on the lanes!!
if you want them maybe the oil will dry up some before you use them. CUJO

Ok since we went to dist.belts. Vantage green belts did not work with my brand new Amflites they slide to much. The material gets hard after 6 months and start cracking within the year, they used to be my fave. but not any more. Stahl's higrip does all I want and more.If any one wants Vantage green I have some to get rid of that aren't that old.

I also agree with Crud thre on the Q orange belts. The middle would become black and get hard. Then they turn into the Ruff top belts from AMF if thats possible.

Vinson: How much oil are you putting out, do you clean your pins, and do you have alot of jams on the lanes w/ those green belts installed?

Like i stated before, have to give them there chance under the spotlight so...We shall see.

I can't believe that you've had that many problems with their stuff... Heck, I've had a couple things that were lacking in this or that, but for the most part, I'm completely delighted with their parts... most of them are better-designed and less expensive than OEM.

Tons of oil, yes, no pin jams,no out of ranges no ball calls, brand new pins new belts ,no grab. Good linage, top running house. Yes I have a little beef, in over 20 years maybe returned a couple of parts from AMF , don't order any v parts any more, have to return to much of it. The green belts used to be my favorite a few years ago and I recommended them a lot,but they changed the design and the material to a harder belt with less grip.I'll never order another, Stahl's is it for me.
