M P Chasiss/Sweep

I have 82-70 machines with MP chassis. The other night my "B" mechanic had a problem with erratic sweep travel during league. To be helpful, he replaced the sweep contactor. The next day I found it on my work bench with a note. "I changed the sweep contactor, now when you push the cycle button, the sweep goes into continuous run. You have to push the zero button to make it stop. but it does the same thing every time the cycle button is pushed. The contactor wiring looks ok. I changed the MP board and all relays. Can't see any obvious wiring flaws. STUMPED!!!

The new boards from Creative Tech with the LED's for all pinlights on them make MP's run much better. You probably have deeper problems then that. Next time a "b" tech would touch a chassis I would chop off a finger until his behavior could be controlled.

I've read the post about the contactor being changed...was there anything else modified on the pinsetter itself? If the SA cam lever is mis-adjusted, it will do what you are describing. If you have put another chassis on this machine and it works fine, dis-regard this reply.

The problem follows the chassis to different machines. The problem is definately in the chassis itself. I guess my hope was that when the contactor was changed, he damaged or distorted some other component near the contactor to cause the problem. I still have had no luck locating the fault.

Sounds like the PC board to me.

From what I have heard, if you have to zero the chassis to make it stop & it DOES stop the cont. sweep, sounds like the board. I assume that you have tried another board? What kind of board does it have in it? Personally, I prefer the 9840 or 9850 boards rather than the Creative Tech board. The 9860's that Creative Tech can be a weird at times.
