Hi all
This is a new one for me and i am just wondering if it has happened to anyone else coz it sure has me wondering.
on the weekend i had the rear roller fall out of it support. The sheave and belt were still on the other end but the common side fell out. I serviced the Pit about a month ago (it might not like to be serviced?)i replaced both retainers and bearing on the roller and supprts and it fell off. in my 11 years of playing with these animals i have never seen or even heard of it, so if possible can someone enlighten me on how this has occured. All input will sure help me sleep on a night
This can allso happen if a pin gets stuck between the front roller and the bounce plate.
Pin upside down and a ball hitting it...ouch!
Did you cut a peace of your carpet?
OK, here goes with a possible assembly problem.
The steel kickbacks are assembled and spaced using two straight straps and one angled brace. You see these whenever you pull a pit. The center of the angled brace bolts to the center of the front strap, and the two ends of the brace meet the rear strap at the kickbacks, using the same bolts.
The rear strap must be against the kickback, with the angled brace inside the strap's flange (in other words, the strap is sandwiched between the brace and the kickback at each end), otherwise the distance between the kickbacks will be wider than normal, which will allow the rear roller to fall out at the common side.
I've seen rebuilt machines where this was the case, at least on one side.
Check it out. If your machines aren't too close to the floor, you should be able to determine this with a flashlight.
Good luck!

WOW... Jerry you are a troubleshooter extraordinaire, sports_central would have never figured that one out.
SC Do you put the origonal rollers back in or maybe you do what I do and put in rebuilds waiting in the wings. I rebuild everything that came out of the pit after the pit is up and running.
I recently serviced a pit that is too wide in the back and I had to put a spacer behind the shaft side bearing. The roller seated at the ends of the bearing supports and I didn't like it.
US Bowling did the install on the 70's that I am working. Lets just say that I have a few PBL's that slip right in and I have no problem getting belts on, then I have a few that are.... a little more challenging. I've even had to cut split shafts to get a better alignment on some PBL's.
Hope this shines some light on your problem.
Mike
Pinspotters do not break down when they are not running!
No when i did it I replaced the retainers and also i serviced the bearings on the rear roller aswell. After i checked it all out about another month later the dang thing poppede out again. GO FIGURE........... TYPICAL AMF EQUIPMENT.
We had two rear rollers pop out last week. Both were on the common side at the ?. The new pinchaser was useing the hole ( on the end machines ) as a step to climb up on the diamond plate catwalk.

We don't have anything on the end machines. I just jump up or kneel on the diamond plate and pull myself up on the machine. We have about one meter of room behind the lanes, so we use only a 2X4 across the common pits about 18" off the floor. The 2X4 is 24" long, so you can't miss your step when you're getting out.
It's the kids that are stepping on the question mark.

Good morning, I have built a tester for the MP Chassis for the 82-70 machines. Instead of using the cam switches I am using relays. My question is to anyone that may...
Is anyone running the solderless relays on the accelerators? How do you like them? What brand? How difficult to convert was it? Would love the feed back as I'm about to switch...
Working...
