• No score from 10th frame button.

Have a curious cycling/scoring problem with an odd lane at my centre. Thought this would be an interesting fault to post, and would like to hear your guys opinion.

The lane will not cycle from the control box at the back of the machine. Nor on the consol when you want to re-set pins,( by pressing RE-RACK then LEFT LANE)! So you have to press the RE-SET button on the ball return, but for some reason the lane doesn't score when the button is pressed!?!

Have 82-70's S/S, Advantage scoring system, and Accuscore curtain wall chassis.

Re: No score from 10th frame button.

For some reason the pinsetter is not communicating with the CWC. Check your MI cables that come out from J10. This goes to the ODD Pinsetter. From that cable theres a pigtail that branches off to different locations. One goes to the switch ontop of the sweep/rake arm. Another goes into the wireway to the BE control box. This is your RPO cycle button. When AccuScore is installed, the cycle button on the BE Box which is normally paralleled to the cushion start switch circuit is converted to the RPO Cycle.

The re-rack from the BT is generated from the CWC then passed on to the pinsetters. Again, no communication between the two will prevent this from happening.

If all cables look good, check with another CWC on that pair.

Let us know what you've tried so far.

Re: No score from 10th frame button.

I think I may have this one, seen something VERY similar before. Check the microswitch that tells the camera to scan should be the same micro as on the sweep and table cams with the little button as a bolt presses it in and out. Also check the bolt in that little bracket itself, I've seen a pretty deep hole worn in em before from the button which caused problems, if ya see that just give the bolt a turn so it hits a new part of the bolt head. I have an odd feeling the microswitch is the problem. The lever for it is pressed on by the (from the front of the machine) right sweep arm. If it's scoring gutters first the sweep arm itself may be out of adjustment or the sweep could be drifting hitting the lever then drifting so the switch opens scoring the gutter then nothing (doubt this is your problem I bet ya would mentioned it). But the no cycle from the back control box was my key, when no cycle from the back 99/100 times something with the camera start lever (or whatever ya wanna call it) is screwed up. Just my $0.02 hope it helps

Thanks guys for your responses.
Have done exactly Hee-Haw to machine. (only checked that all cables in the J box were secure)

Will check out wiring and microswitch today if time as it is a saturday and tends to be v. busy.

Can't understand why the machine won't cycle from the bowlers terminal?

Re: No score from 10th frame button.

Alastair, I'm not 100% sure if it caused it not to rerack up front I believe it did. But if that switch isnt closed (be it a bad switch or the sweep arm out of adj, or for whatever reason) I know you will not got any cycle from the back control box, I'm 100% sure of that. As I said that was my key in your earlier post. Good luck and let us know how it turns out

Re: No score from 10th frame button.

I have had the same problem before, and Rep hit it on the head. Sweep was drifting causing the switch to open and not allowing the machine to cycle. I'm not sure what kind of MI's you have, but mine have a "zero" light that comes on when the sweep up. If that light isn't on, the machine won't cycle.
Give me a hammer and some duct tape and I can fix it!

Re: No score from 10th frame button.

Well KAT hit the nail on the head with his advice.
First thing I did today was to swap over curtain wall chassis. The CWC that was replaced cycled from the control box, also scored from the tenth frame button, and allowed the machine to be cycled from the bowlers consol. With a little investigation found that there was a bent pin on the J10 male plug on the faulty CWC. Straightened out the pin and re-connected the CWC to original pair of lanes. It worked perfectly!

What an interesting fault that was. I enjoy working on machines especially when it isn't just adjusting cups, finger cells and run of the mill daily chores. It makes work far more interesting.

Thanks for all your expert advice on the subject. PS - Unsure about what "MI" stands for. Where is this zero light situated that 8270 pinspotter is talking about?

Alastair:

Glad everything worked out. The Zero LED mentioned earlier is native to the AccuScore XL and BOSS.

Anyway glad ya got it fixed
