Ok, I'm an A-2 mechanic who's house is buying new machines. Any feedback on these machines?

    TIA,

I agree with Ed. ALthough if you like headaches, ulcers, stress in the neck area. chasing 500 calls your first night of league after install and a gaurenteed migrane for your next 3 years then get em. If not...Keep your A-2's.

What, you mean they don't really get 3500 frames per stop like the salesman told me?

Seriously though, I don't have much choice. I work in a military center. We are getting new machines, and AMF came in with the low bid. I also need to find someone close that has these so I can go have a look. I don't think there is an AMF center within 100 miles of me though.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Heck... after working on the B's, AMFs will be like a walk in the park.

Even if it's not 3500 frames per stop... it'll be a heck of a lot nicer than those potato mashers you have now...

Deadwood....I remember a long time ago when you said all adjustments are to go by the manual on a 70.

I want you to work one year on an A or A-2 and do all adjustments by the manual.

You will have about 135 FPS.

I work on my lane machine 9 times out of 10. And my adj now are made from memory. If I pull out the book its to wipe my ya know what after I eat in a Bowling Center. Why is that?!?!

I agree with Deadwood and The Fox.

Stick with the A-2s. 70s/90s have too many nuisance calls due to poor design.

Okay, if you're stuck with getting the 90s, here's what to look for.
Make sure you inspect carefully each assembly out of the crate. If you ordered new pinsetters, make sure they are new.
If they are refurbs, make sure you don't get any bummed out parts with cracks and such. Ensure assemblies with bolt holes show no sign of "egging-out." This is a good indication of a prior poorly running machine due to neglect.

Also, get as much knowledge as you can from veterans around here like CUJO, Jerry, Mike Stalker, and a couple of other guys (sorry if I forgot your names).

In closing, good luck with your 90s.

Did I mention stick with the A-2s ?

(Slamming door on way out since Jerry will 86 me too) :p

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Potato mashers, you say? I've always thought that the 82-70 class of machine always looked like a birdcage...

To be fair, though, when last I visited Phoenix, as usual, I stopped in at Mike Stalker's house. Dragged my friend in back for the quick tour, and he was surprised by the simplicity of the design.

Then I showed him the footage of Jbees' A2 machines, and he about freaked.

This is Mike Stalker's wife. He drags me into every bowling center he visits and once in awhile I get to see the back. One time Mike insisted that I look at the Brunswick machines; my heart stopped and I had to catch my breath. My first thought...what hideous monstrosities! I'm not a mechanic, but I have helped him from time to time work on the AMF's, and I think the simplicity of the design far surpasses Brunswick.
