Re: A B contactors
Hey Digger how's it going.
I still use replacenents for AB contactors here.
I'm split 50/50 Siemens and Allen Bradly.
There are solid state contactors out now, that would be right up your alley. I have not seen any but I understand that you cannot operate them manually.
Welcome back to the business.
MikePinspotters do not break down when they are not running!

Re: A B contactors
I have the solid state contactors on about 80% of my machines and they are trouble free but Mike is right. Unless you have the manual switches on your chassis or otherwise mounted on the front there is no way to operate them.

Re: A B contactors
I posted on Aug 25 How I have been repairing the contact surface with silver solder. I remove the contacts from the little springs, clean and file them and use a high silver content solder. Ace hardware has it, also flux. Use a pencil torch and heat very quickly and apply solder. Then file down to .09 to .100. The same can be done on the four pads in the bakelite carriers, as soon as the solder 'balls up', spray with water right away as to not burn up the bakelite. I have done this over a year ago and no problems. No sticking or blowing a cap. BTW The Gman does this also. I'm not the only one. Sounds hokey I know , but saves $$Yeah but, We've always done it that way.
