I did the same with a couple of 'em, but using Liquid Metal... it's basically powdered aluminum with an epoxy binder, that's about the consistency of toothpaste. Filled the holes up, filed them flat, then redrilled the holes.

I had the casting on the carriage egg out where the guide wires go through.
I used JB Weld to fix it.
I have also used JB Weld on the other end of the guide wires when the set screw has stripped.
