I have a 24 lane center of 82-70's. Went though and checked the dist mount level and only 4 are plumb. My question is does the dist cross bar have to be exactly centered before I level the mount. And if so what is the measurement. I measured the old cross members and the measurement varied from 61 3/16 to 61 5/16. I built new crossmembers for the machines when purchased, but not all the holes are exactly centered on the angle crossmember. If it helps I have the old style dist mounts with the pipe and cast mount.

Re: Dist Mount Leveling
KEN:
HAD ALL 32 OF MY DISTRIBUTOR OUT OF LEVEL. WHEN I TOOK THE TWO SPRINGS OFF THE DISTRIBUTOR FELL TO ONE SIDE OR THE OTHER. I PUT STAHL'S HEAD LEVELERS ON AND SET THEM SO THE DISTRIBUTOR WOULD NOT MOVE. THE THING HAS A TURN BUCKLE ON IT FOR ADJUSTMENTS. I HAVE THE NEW STYLE SUPPORT MOUNTS ON ALL MY MACHINES. TO INSTALL THE LEVELER YOU JUST DRILL ONE 1/4-20 HOLE IN THE SUPPORT AND THE OTHER END MOUNTS TO THE PIN WHEEL GUARD. BY USING THIS YOU DON'T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT THE CROSS BAR BEING STRAIGHT.

KING
PINS NOW GO OFF THE FLIPPERS STRAIGHT, AND DO NOT ANGLE TO ONE SIDE OR THE OTHER, NOW A BETTER DROP INTO THE BIN. ALSO THE PAN IS FLAT SO THAT WHEN THE PIN FALLS OFF THE RAIL IT'S GOING TO HIT THE PAN THE SAME WAY JUST ABOUT EVERY TIME. AFTER WATCHING THE FIRST ONES WORK FOR A FEW WEEKS, I PUT THEM ON ALL MY MACHINES. I WOULD TRY A COUPLE OUT TO SEE IF YOU LIKE THEM BEFORE GOING ALL THE WAY. STOP AND THINK, IF THE DISTRIBUTOR IS FALLIN OFF TO ONE SIDE THAT MEANS IT IS HIGH ON ONE SIDE AND LOW ON THE OTHER AND AS THE PINS DROP OFF, THE DISTANCE THEY FALL, INTO THE BIN, IS DIFFERENT AND COULD CAUSE JAMS.

Re: Dist Mount Leveling
Do you have a part number for the head leveler and an approx cost for each one. I have now fully leveled 2 machines and vary few misfeeds to report. The misfeed are due to simple adjustment needing worked out. If anybody knows the correct way AMF levels the Dist mount, I would like to know.

As for the dolphins, I can imagine, if they ever decided to quit, what their two-week notice would be like:
"So long, and thanks for all the fish."

Re: Dist Mount Leveling
To plumb dist post, simply loosen the two 5/16" bolts at top of bracket where it hooks to back-end frame and hit it very hard with and old bowling pin. If for some reason you can't move it enough, then remove one of the bolts and replace it with a 1/4" bolt. This should give you more than enough play to adjust plumb. Once you do this you will have to adjust center again. We used to do this on installations to stop swing between the #3 and #2 bins. You mentioned that you still had the old pipe style posts. I would put them back on because they had the advantage of being able to hold the post in place with a draw bolt. I have fixed many a pin feed problem by tapping the new brackets and putting in a bolt to hold the posts in place. If the post moves with the distributor, it will cause problems.

Re: Dist Mount Leveling
The picture of the leveler helps alot, By the way how soon does the center open where that machine is ? No dirt or grease on the nylon gear, not a smudge on the pinwheel cover! Must be an extra machine. Without Mechanics Where Would We Be?
