dizzy makin me dizzy

This one I haven't seen here yet.
I have one lane where the distributor hangs up and double feeds on the 8 pin, then won't index to the one pin after feeding the 9. I've cleaned the tubes and rollers, rebuilt the clutch (twice) and adjusted it. Every other pin drops fine. Need a clue here. Anyone got a thought?

Your spring is gone or has broken and fallen off that runs at a 45 degree angle from the bottom of the index cam to the area where your dist belt makes the S turn.

If it is there your rollers may be adjusted to tightly. Add a kicker spring to it and see how it runs.

In addition to what Mike has already mentioned, check the adjustment of the eccentric rollers and the trip cable/rod. this adjustment is critical at the 8 and the 9 because the ass of the carriage wants to sag down and make the carriage tubes and the trip stop rod non-parallel. Adjust the rollers and cable per Service Manual procedures and go from there.

Posted before I went to work......Took 10 minutes to fix it [img]/content/btubb/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif[/img]

Main spring was, in fact, gone. Also, linkage was out of adjustment. Replaced and adjusted...all OK now. Essentially a brain cramp from staring at the sucker for so long. Thanks guys for the help. Much appreciated.
