8270 machine, I get a call can't get any pins on # 7, get there pins in the cups cycle the machine goes into x cycle table stops short of going all the way down in spotting, then I see the problem there is a 6 lb ball caught in the # 6 cell opening I had to push real hard to get the ball out.
in all the years I'VE been on 70's I have never had this happen!
another one happened a week ago, interlocks on 14-15 at the same time a pin flew up and landed on the common side of the front end frame and jammed both sweeps.
and yet another one, they call ball on #15 and I go out and the ball is on the floor behind #17
and it's not even FRIDAY THE 13TH!
DIRT
if things aren't going right just use a bigger hammer! DIRT
Those 6 lb balls are nothing but trouble. When did they appear on the scene? I'm no fan of bumpers, either. I mean, really. The whole challenge of the game is compromised by the above. Why don't we install QBowling for the kids, or Route 66, or one of those scaled down games, and let the real bowlers have the lanes? Most of our calls are due to ball calls. Ball sitting halfway up the lane, bumper up, can't step in the gutter...or 6 lb ball idling in the center of the pit.
I really enjoy it when a curtain falls, or maybe get to replace a sweep link, but the damn ball calls...
Let's do away with the 6 lb ball. It's just a time waster...JMO
I'm just an old retro-grouch...LOL! Bowling's changed too much for my tastes...where did this freakin' Glow Bowling start??
Just an excuse for those punks to smack my sweeps, and load up my pits with 12 - 15 G-damn balls!! Man, the things Bowling Centers have to do to keep people coming in the door. What ever happened to overhead projectors, yellow grease pencils, and bowlers who could actually do MATH?
Vulcanized rubber balls, wood lanes, Pindicator Magic Triangles, Gold Crowns, surface ball returns - no more undergrounds - ...just good old-fashioned bowling!!! Damn new-fangled, space-age, plastic, urethane, infa-red, laser-fed, kevlar, Lexan technology has INVADED our precious bowling!!! Grrrr
It is just called Progress. If we don't have the "punks" coming in on Friday and Saturday nights most of us don't have a job anymore. Yeah, the good old days of lacquer on wood. Have to screen and coat every 3 or 4 months, breathing fumes that you should wear a mask for. Hand spraying and buffing the lanes daily. Replacing burnt out telescore bulbs and burning the **** out of your fingers. Hand painting the gutters. Repairing lanes that some moron lofts a 16 pound ball on. Oh yeah, the good old days. LOL.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Point well taken, mechanic8230. I'd forgotton about the nightmares you mentioned. And yes, we need the money, or we're out of a job. Let me mention something. If String bowling ever takes off in the like it has in Germany, we as mechanics will cease working. Those things get tangled. That's it! Hardly any moving parts. Thank God the ABC hasn't approved them! Long live the 8230, 8270, A-2 and GSX!
Just get rid of that (can't find a curse word strong enough) 6 lb ball!
Yay! Fellow retro-grouches! And from my home state of CA, no less...where all my wrench turning started! Anybody know if that 64 lane house called Riverside Lanes still exists? Right outside San Bernadino...64 8230's, every one pristine! Miss it...

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Hey well if the bowlers at my center bowled where you work mate they would still come to the desk and complain their lane is mis-scoring they are THAT stupid.....ROFLMAO
AS REQUESTED....The all new and VERY improved "super cool" Pin_Head with super hip shades.....
I am also without auto scoring. I don't even know where the closest center without it is!! And my 82-30s run as good if not better than any 70's around!! Problems with 6lb balls just point out future pit problems so you can take care of them before they get out of hand. I make kids be 4 years old before I allow them to bowl. By that time, most can get the ball through the pins. Pi$$es a few parents off, but I don't chase many balls under the table!!
TOON
Can somebody give an explaniton how pins 2, 3, 6 are supposed to be connected. I had a shortcircuit there for the drive motor connection because of water leakage.
I have a distributor that is pulling the belt hard to the left in the nine pin position (and possibly 6 pin), but seems fine in the other spots. As you can see the residue and...
I have several Pin Elevators that I believe to be out of round on my XLi's and was curious if anyone has ever run across this before and is so, what you did about it.
I'm...
