Check the Russel Stoll plug.....they do not last forever.

Check the wires from the Russel Stoll plug to the term strip.

Re: lane turns on/off HELP

In our centre which we work, on the front desk computer ( advantage system, with accuscore cws), we have a green line appears at random intervals, and for prolonged periods of time. This corresonds to the lane with which the problem with the machine cutting on and off during cycling occurs.

This green line indicates either the lane is on stand-alone or is turned off at a point down the back.

If it was the power plug, surely the front desk monitor, green line, would fliker, as this would correspond to the cutting on and off of the power during the time when the machine is on, and not being used. But the line appears on the screen for prolonged periods of time!?!

When the power problem occurs the machine during spotting will drop pins as a jerky table action occurs. But during re-spot its not so bad as all that happens is that the machine stops dead for a second and then carries on again. First and/or second ball lights do go off then back on again.

Tonight i have also swaped around our lane 8 card to see if the problem left the lane onto another, but no luck!
So, have replaced the mask unit switch also tonight to see if this has any effect, but very doubtfull.

Could this be a problem related to our front desk computer? Have replaced cutain wall and no effect.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">I would also check the A&amp;MC Plug going to the machine, it could be loose. I've had that happen before.

I also agree with King, check the russel stoll plug, and wires.

Definately check the plugs, russell stoll, a&amp;mc and also check your green plug on the side of the chassis, could be a bad connection in there

Rep added it for me but check your A&amp;MC plug for a bad connection. May be barely plugged in.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Check for a flakey LANE A board in the LIU. Sometimes one of hte resistors gets burned up and will show maintenance bars for no reason due to reading insufficient voltage from the T2 in the pinsetter chassis. Remember, the LIU is responsible for interfacing the scoring to the pinsetters and for turning them on/off. Lane A boards control banks of 8 machines.

Connect 5 &amp; 6 in the A&amp;MC box, if the problem is gone then, you know it's not in the machine but between the counter and the machine.
But to me it looks more a problem in your masking plug(do you have an MP or a solid state chassis ? (MP-round plug from chassis to mask, SS-flat plug from chassis to mask)).
Good Luck

Or use these relays; you can manualy activate them:

If the problem is not in the pwr plug and you have changed lane A boards and Cpu board, check your homerun box, switch your cables to an empty port, sometimes a port will go bad on the box. And that feeds info through the LIU. Good Luck.

Re: lane turns on/off HELP

It's been a while, but I don't think the green bar appears on the Advantage unless the wall breaker or machine CB (off TSC-2 I think) is open, chassis or main RS is unplugged.
So, there should be your finite set of circuits to test.
If I read it right, it only goes sputtery when the machine is in a cycle. This indicates that the problem is probably somewhere that vibrates when pins are hit, when sweep drops, or when ball goes into the exit.

I don't think it has to do with scoring because you'd probably be off line with that pair for a while if the scoring had something to do with it. Also, it's only one lane.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">But, the Lane A board will pick up the voltage for the Manager Control Circuit (emitted by T2). If it does not sense the voltage, then it will put up a maintenance bar. Lane A baords can cause problems on just one lane. There are 8 sets of components on each board, one for each lane. The Lane A board contains the relays to allow the 24VAC Manager circuit to revert back to the MP Chassis and energize the M relay.

Hey I have seen this and the problem was the switch in the masking unit was bad. The other thing I would check is your manager control box at the fron desk. When those go they do strange things. I know most of us have auto scoring and no longer use these switches but they are still there.

Best of luck.
