Re: Dizzy skips 5 pin...
1. Check clutch tension....could be excessive.
2. Check for too much linear spring tension.
3. Check eccentric roller adj.
4. Check stop blade to cluch plate...adjust with channelocks on the trip rod bracket.

Re: Dizzy skips 5 pin...
The linear (carriage return) spring may be "stretched" to provide less tension.
Observe the movement from 9 - 1 to see if it firmly moves the carriage without hesitation.....do not stretch the spring unless you have an extra

Re: Dizzy skips 5 pin...
Most of my thoughts have been said already. One other thing though, if the stop blades aren't lining up properly make sure the trip cable assy is adjusted properly, I recently had one out that caused a dist to skip the 6 pinAll I want in life is to turn wrenches and climb around pinsetters/pinspotters again :/

Re: Dizzy skips 5 pin...
jc, along with some of what has been said, make sure that your trip rod has no freeplay.
If there is freeplay, and the rollers aren't perfect, the clutch plate will spin around and push your trip arm forward and slip right under the stop blade.
You want to set your trip arm so that it is rigid but not too tight. Tighten your 1/4 bolt until the nylon washer mushrooms over the bushing and touches the trip support casting. The assembly will now be rigid and still allow smooth vertical movement.
If your dist is skipping the 5 bin, this is ususlly the cause.Pinspotters do not break down when they are not running!

Down Under our sequence of bin feed is :-
1,3,2,4,8,7,5,6,10,9 ( I hope that's correct )
But water goes down our sink plug hole Anticlockwise , Rumour is that in the Northern Hemisphere is goes down Clockwise !
( I've never proved this rumour , but it is supposedly the case )
Maybe Dissy's do the same up there ?
Just Curious here
Somehow though I really think he meant The 6 pin
Everyone elses advise has pretty much covered the fault , But adjusting the Dissy at # 1 so the trip arms are square to the #1 Bin feed rollers is worth checking
Also Safety & Lateral Springs will give headaches when slack or jiggered with wire ties or extra springs added to give more tension , Worthwhile changing them if they look suspect ( Will save other problems in the future )
The Dissy "L" bracket if it is not Square to the Pinwheel cover , Will give trouble .
The dissy drive shaft isn't binding up by any chance ? ( Swap with another off a good machine )
The Dissy Support Carriage isn't catching onto the Front of the bin assembly around the 5 pin area ??
My advice is normally not related to Skipping 5 Pin faults , So try mine LAST , ALL the other advice is much more relevant

Re: Dizzy skips 5 pin...
Almost right It goes 1,3,2,4, 7 , 8 ,5,6,10,9. I just assumed he meant to say 6 when he said 4. And BTW the clockwise/counter clockwise thing with draining is indeed true, I have some friends in Australia All I want in life is to turn wrenches and climb around pinsetters/pinspotters again :/

Never was sure about that one , I knew ours was AntiClockwise , But unsure what North of the Equator was.
So my Mum ( God rest her soul ) was not telling litle white lies when I was told this as a young bloke

Re: Dizzy skips 5 pin...
LOL!
It's easy to get confused. I am most of the time :p
Mark, I caught that, and you're right, I was wondering if there was a new cam being sold somewhere...
Also make sure the backend motor weldment is square. If it's jacked up on one side, or something's bent (thank you Lampie!), that ol' dissy'll shoot that 2 pin right over the bin onto the table below...
Love this forum!

Re: Dizzy skips 5 pin...
I'VE been looking in the manual for the past few month's trying to remember the names of the parts and I don't remember seeing a dizzy!
is this on another model of machine!
is there pages missing in our manual.
I think my brain is going dizzy from looking at the manual so much. KEN.B

At what thickness do you replace the clutch face.
Is there a minimum dimension from the clutch face to the rivet.
