we have a intermittent problem with the machine on 1st ball, they bowl sweep comes down and does not stop at guard, just goes all the way through and goes back to zero and stops, and stays on 1st ball and table never moves. chassis has been changed twice. then we get respots.
don't know if it does it on 2nd ball because bowlers would just push the reset button to get a full rack I guess. and it only happens 1 or two times a hour during a league.
at first I thought it was the respot cells not holding the pins, but then the machine would not be on 1st ball with no pins.
the machine is right in front of the desk, and the desk guy said he has seen the sweep come down and go all the way through without stopping.
it's fun sometimes working on the machines, but sometimes it's not.
Gotta go with the King on this one. Check the adjustment first, but the switches have a way of collecting oil inside them. I'd change out all three just to be sure. Fred

same problem still there, after checking the sweep cam switches, then switching the whole sweep cam switch assy with another machine.
checked c-1-c-2 plugs, found a few burnt terminals on the c-1 plug and replaced them.
problem still there switched table cam switch assy with another machine, problem is still there. head tech is still out,and I'M going nuts here with the help of the other head tech that's been helping out 10-15 hours a week.
I sure have been learning a bunch on my own,but going nuts too. oh I even switched the sweep&table motors and that didn't help, and the other head tech said the motors wouldn't have anything to do with the problem.
anymore ideas!
if the description of the problem is right "sweep not stopping @ guard just running through on 1st ball"
only reason i can think of would be bad SB switch or maybe a shorting Sweep run switch. tho the switch would cause problems elsewhere as well.
if you have MP chassis, sweep will bypass first guard on a foul, or returning to bowl from instructomat. if you have MP's try turning the foul light off and/or look into the toggle switch at the desk.
another off hand thought, if you have SS chassis and the table "bounces" swwep would drop, as the table drifts backward, the TA-2 could be engaging which would tell the sweep its time to run-through.

it's still doing it!
we have 5 board chassis with omega tek boards, and the machines don't sweep pins on a foul, the jumpers have been removed. no expander boards.
changed chassis again! (3 times now)
things changed--sweep cam switch lever assy--table cam switch lever assy, both motors switched.
burnt terminals on c1 machine plug.the other head tech was there for a little bit today and changed the sweep run switch and 20 minutes after league started it did it again!
the head tech helping out is stumped!he's been working on the machines 20 years and said he has never seen a problem like this.
any other ideas.
Just for gits and shiggles, swap out the Master CB on the BE Control box and see if your gremlins move. I had one lane a few months back that was doing some weird shyt and the CB turned out to be the culprit. Pull out your wiring diagrams and see if any control circuitry passes thru.

KEN,
try what KAT said with the cb.
if that doesn't cure it, I would take the chassis off and pull all the wireway covers off and look for a pinched or a smashed wire, and look around the front terminal strips for bolts, screws, washers, locking clips, anything that shouldn't be there! you never know what you might find in there causing a intermittent short.
if things aren't going right just use a bigger hammer! DIRT
another problem found, pulled wire way covers and I found all kinds of stuff laying around under the chassis plugs I found flat washers ,a few bolts, about 4-5 locking catches laying in between the bare terminals,a few screws and nuts floating around no more troubles on this machine for over two days!
thanks for the help.
Good morning, I have built a tester for the MP Chassis for the 82-70 machines. Instead of using the cam switches I am using relays. My question is to anyone that may...
Is anyone running the solderless relays on the accelerators? How do you like them? What brand? How difficult to convert was it? Would love the feed back as I'm about to switch...
Working...
