• Bind during respot?

Ok guys, I got a problem with one lane and wanted some other opinions. It looks like some kind of a bind as the fingers close and reopen. I just lubed and adjusted everything, replaced 3 bent wireway pivot pins and replaced 2 bad balls that the linkage rods snap on to. As the fingers lock on the pins there looks to be a little bit of a bind as they don't lock real smooth, and I also see a bit of a bind as they reopen again. I can't feel any kind of a bind if I open and close the fingers by hand. Any ideas guys? Just wanted some other opinions from true experts

Rep, could be anywhere. Best thing you can do is unhook all the cells and start from scratch. (7,4,2,1,8,5,3,9,6,10)

Not only will you isolate the problem, but you will have piece of mind knowing that it was easy to find.

Not a bad idea Mike, thanks. Thats next on my list, I ran out of time tonight after doing all 900 things I did heh. I just kept seeing one thing messed up after another. One odd thing though despite the bind which I can see the machine runs fine, I havent had a setup on it all week. Thanks again for the tip Mike, this problem is killing me but I WILL find and fix this

Sounds like a common fault
just check that your respot cell clears the
pin that is on the frame a'ss
quite often this pin can be bent up or your respot cell pivot pin is bent so the cell is sitting to low
also check that your cells aren't really worn
somtimes they can hang down at the end of the pivot arm

It is also possible that the RSC is rubbing the underside of the wireway as it closes. Check this with all RSC connected. Good luck!

Re: Bind during respot?

Thanks for the replies guys. I looked it over yesterday for rubs or bent pivot studs and didn't see anything. But indeed I will double check. Odds are it's something stupid that I'm just not seeing. I still find it odd tho that it runs fine, and I can't feel a bind if I open and close the fingers by hand, I did before doing the work I did last night but when it runs it's no better, it just looks like the fingers kinda hesitate as they lock on the pins. So it's gotta be some kind of a bind I would guess. Every other time I've had a problem like this not only did I find it right away, I had to cuz I'd get setups all night as the fingers wouldn't lock :p Thanks again for the replies I'll check all ya said when I get in today

Rep, sometimes the 1/4" bolt on the (batman cam) will come loose, screw in and allow too much travel.

This will also cause a bind just as the cells lock and release.
Good Luck, Mike

Re: Bind during respot?

FINALLY GOT IT! I did check thru everything you guys suggested and the standard stuff again today. One pivot stud was a little bent, changed that, no better. Pin for the respot spring hanger was shot, changed it and the hangar, got a little better. What it turned out being was bad rod ends in the respot rod. They didn't seem all that bad but there was a little play there, changed both ends and it was smooth as silk after. Thanks again for your replies guys, you're the best
