• Sure Pik Problem Worse Than Cal's

Okay, you ready for this one?

Sure Pik hooked to 82-30 machines (has 3 relays). Problem is the Sure Pik would not turn off with the machine, only would turn off with the breaker (like Cal Clark's Problem). So we figure it is something simple like a short or a bad relay. WRONG!!. This is the situation...

Take out the big 10 amp fuse...It still runs!

Take ALL 3 relays out...It still runs!

Unscrew the black wire coming from the circuit breaker...It still runs!

So, all fuses are out, all relays are out, black power wire isn't even connected, AND IT IS STILL RUNNING!!!

There are only 3 ways to get it to turn off:

1. Remove white wire.
2. Remove Green Ground Wire.
3. Turn off breaker.

Turned the power off and did ohm readings on the 3 wires coming in (Black, White, Green). The readings were as follows:

Black to <font color="green">Green</font>: 0 ohms
Black to <font color="#FFFFFF">White</font>: Infinite ohms
<font color="#FFFFFF">White</font> to <font color="green">Green</font>: Infinite ohms

Did the same thing on a Sure-Pik that was working right and the readings were as follows:

Black to <font color="green">Green</font>: Infinite ohms
Black to <font color="#FFFFFF">White</font>: Infinite ohms
<font color="#FFFFFF">White</font> to <font color="green">Green</font>: 0 ohms

And these 2 Sure-Piks are hooked to the same ciruit breaker.

Still haven't fixed the problem.

It's a stumper.

We think maybe the big wire traveling through the underlane might be pinched under the ball track and it has some how grounded black the green? But you would think that this would blow the circuit breaker, not cause a continuous running Sure Pik??

LOUIE,
what you need to do is grab onto the control box and ground yourself against the sure stuck with the power on,and if you get a quick charge you'll know where the problem is! just don't hang on too long.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Take volatge reading from black wire to Sure-Stuk frame. See what you get.
Then do same for White wire (which should be neutral and carry next to nothing).

After, take readings by measuring above two wires (1 at a time) to the green ground.

You mentioned that the black wire may have been smashed by a ball. High voltage runs should be in conduit.
