Starter pad solution (for a while) :
Move the pad down 1/2 inch. It's done by:
Remove starter pad from assembly. Measure up 1/2" from bottom (most worn end) on odd machine side. Facing back (flat side) of pad, cut a slot 1/4" deep X 3/8" long X 1/8" wide. This is where the bottom holder tab will seat into the starter pad.
Put the pad back into the assembly, use a screwdriver or something to pull the pad down into position, with the tab fitting into the slot you just cut. Test.
It oughta be fine for at least a few more months.
