• CARPETS SLOWING DOWN

SEVERAL CARPET BELTS HAVE BEEN
STARTING TO SLOW DOWN AND EVEN STOP MOVING
WHEN THE LANE IS FIRST TURNED ON OR PINS
ARE ON IT.I I TOOK THE PIT APART,GREASED
THE BEARING SUPPORTS,CHANGED THE CARPET DRIVE
BELT BUT THE CARPET STILL RUNS SLOW.THE ONLY
THING THAT COMES TO MIND IS MAYBE THE LANE
OIL I AM USING IS THE PROBLEM.I TRIED TO
CLEAN THE CARPETS BUT,THE ONLY THING THAT
STOPS THE PROBLEM IS TO REPLACE THE CARPET
ITSELF.HAS ANYONE ELSE COME ACROSS THIS?

remove back roller in pit.
apply belt grip to back roller and replace roller. This should help give a consistent running of the belt.

Re: CARPETS SLOWING DOWN

Have you tried replacing the springs for the front roller pivots? When my machines would do that it was the springs. The reason a new carpet fixing the problem is that it is not stretched out...yet.

Re: CARPETS SLOWING DOWN

The spring on the drive belt tension wheel didn't pop off did it??

...........
I have one starting to do that.I keep the dates posted on the machine of when I do 'pit jobs'....this one is 10 1/2 years old( Vantage premium).

Some crappy day pretty soon,I'll just have to put a new carpet/brackets/springs etc.

The nasty part of it is that it's an end machine..( rear roller must come up thru the machine instead of sliding out under the adjacent machine )
I never had a "10" ;..but ,one night after closing,..I did five " 2's" !

Oily carpets from 50 units in the middle.

Go to the hardware store.

Buy stair traction tape.

Remove the rear roller.

Clean it with lane cleaner.

Apply 2 1 inch strips around the roller.

Reinstall the roller.

Problem solved.

Re: CARPETS SLOWING DOWN

Check to make sure the front roller is not rubbing on the plank in front of it. It sounds like a streach carpet or bad spring. I go thrugh mine once a year. P.M. is the key not waiting till it breaks down.
