• Anyone know how to run 24 lanes on 500$a month

Thats right I run a house with 24 amf 8270 machines and all I can spend a month is 500$. Oh and if anyone is wondering these machines wouldnt be in usable shape if not for some the awesome info I have obtained from you guys on this site! So what do you think is 500$ enough to restore this house to its original splender??

If lane oil is separate you can easily do it.

Re: Anyone know how to run 24 lanes on 500$a month

The machines in question are in serious dis repair and even more need of up grading my gutters are wood and over half are broken and need to be replaced my caping for the gutter is old and falling apart, and from what I was told the lanes them selves need to be replaced because they can not be resurfaced. I would say that maybe a third of the machines are in everyday operational condition the rest need to be worked on very badly. Which I have been doing but, it cost nearly 500$ to upgrade one machine to plastic parts (like lexan spot cups, urethane pinbut guides, and plastic twin pin but guides)
I have done 3 machines so far and these things helped bigtime but did not fix all the problems!
I am sorry to be raving but I got leagues leaving and even more that say they wont be back next year. any Ideas on how to do this with out braking the bank please let me know.

Not fer nothing, but the bowlers are bitching to the WRONG GUY if they want machines fixed and upgraded on 500 a month. If machines get to that state, it's because someone skimped so long it finally caught up with them. Now it's time to pay the piper, and he ain't gonna wait any longer if leagues are leaving. If the owner isn't coming up with more scratch, I'd be researching a new position. Meter's running and that place ain't long for the world unless you get the resources to make it right. Bowlers will stay if they see progress, but progress costs money when they didn't spend it earlier.

Kinda like the old oil filter commercial, where the mechanic says, "You can pay me now (holds up oil filter) ... or pay me later" (putting in new engine on a crane)

Give me your address and I will make sure you get our new flyer that got mailed out last week. It is full of good 3-6 year old front end equipment(pvc gutters, capping, ball return, foul lights, masking units, parts etc..) 10% discounts on all new parts and 40% off used & refurbished parts.

It also has lane overlays, how we install them and why it is better our way.

E-mail me or call and I will send you one.

1st of all the metal bin parts are better and cheaper.....if you spend your money wisely you will be ok......lexan spotting cups do not last either.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Jerry, normally I agree with alot you have to say. But, the Vantage Twin Pin guides in my opinion are more reliable than standard bin straps. Just my opinion, though. I know what works for one doesn't work for all.

Sorry Jerry, I should read more carefully.

I do have a few of those butt guides...from Headway (Quality). Kinda nice, but yes, pricey.

I have managed to convert 2 machines in the time I'v been here to the urethane headway but guides and The vantage Twin pin but guides for the shuttle and the lexan cups and those machines are quieter and seem to operate alot smoother than the metal machines not to mention these machines are the only thing the Techs get complimented on other than the oil shot which in and of its self was a battle with an oil machine that has been taken apart so many times I have dubbed it Frankenoiler. I love my job at the lanes and the people I work with, I dont wanna start lookin for another, I wanna keep the one I have running for many years to come. yes it may be better and queiter but, to keep the leagues in the house go with the cheaper metal parts and get the machine up an running, once the league bowlers are happy then slowly get the plastic ones. without the leagues the house closing isn't far behind. I would not work for a center that cheap on parts.

I briefly worked a center once that allowed a budget of $75 per machine.......

...... per year!

Mind you this center had spent 700 grand a couple of years earlier on scoring, front lifts, etc.

Heck if you are looking for a lane machine we have an LC100 that I could get to you for a good price. It is in great shape.

You know I work at an older house and we still have the old relay chassis and our wireways are looking rough. Sometimes that makes respotting a challange. Then there is the 60' of guardian and our pin deck issues. I just put my head down and make everything run and look the best it can. I am sure that if you do the same your efforts will be rewarded.

It took a couple years but now we have 3 or four calls a night and the bowlers are happy. 10 lanes.

PS I like the metal parts too.

Another thing that I did.... I wanted new sweeps. So I was told to raise the money and I could get them. So I sold ads on the sweep for a yearly fee. At our house this fee almost pays for the parts we use on each machine. The new sweeps really look and work great. This was an easy fix for our house.

Best of luck and have fun.

You can do it!!!!! Let your boss know that it is better to budget your machines at a cost per game like Brunswick and some AMF centers do. Example: 40 lane center X 25 games per day a lane bed X 30 days X 2.5 cents a game equals $750.00 a month (Brunswick is happy if you can keep within this cost) I have rebuilt 2- 40 lane centers, 1 for Brunswick-1 for a independant. Now I,m at a AMF center--24 lane @ 28 games a day per bed-times 30 days equals $504.00 per month--if you need more for lane maintenance--scoring--ETC. Increase bowling $.05 a game and you have $1512.00 budget to work with. It's easier to get a nickle a game than to ask for a thousand a month
For Sale- Pickled Eggs--10 cents each, 2 for a quarter, I'll have a quarters worth please.
