• Distributor and 7 pin

I've been tinkering with this machine for over a year.
Once in a while, the 7 pin falls from the trip arms and ends up 1/2 way behind the 4 pin bin.
Sitting on top of the pin guides, you know.

Months ago I put a kicker spring inside the safety link spring and it ran good. Now the problem is coming out again.

The Pit-Bull U-joint was ovaled out and causing distributor bounce so I replaced that.

The housing weldment and balls are nice.

The post is plumb and greasy.

I found a couple butt guide shock mounts torn so I replaced those.

The 10 pin is always fine. I lengthened the safety link a bit but found that that caused more problems. I didn't like that idea anyway.

The bin stringers, shuttle tubes and pin holders are straight and good.

The dist cam and rollers are fine.

If only the distributor could go a little further toward the 7 pin without changing the position of it at any other bin...

Any ideas?

K-Dogg,
Not sure what you mean. Perhaps some part numbers or pictures would help...

Part numbers 070-006-066 & 070-007-119. Just add a few washers between them!, it works great.

Sounds to me that the distributor is hesitating between the 4 and the 7 bin location. Go raid the pro shop, grab a bag of easy slide, lift the dist belt up and pat the easy slide bag on the metal belt runner pan. Let us know the results.

I've got a similar problem. It seems on this lane that the distributor doesn't mount the same as others. It barely gets the 7 pin in, the pin drops off the arms onto the stringer and basically just rolls into place. All the other bin positions are fine. Also I have the O pan back as far as it will go and the gap is still too wide between it and the elevator wheel. How do you get it to point over farther to the 7 without making all the other bin positions off center? Modify the cam? This is also the machine that the sweep bottoms out real bad at guard but is fine at the 4,5,6 pin area. Not that I've really dug in to find out why, no problems to speak of that it causes and we don't use that pair often. But it's on my list Not to mention that across the house i have sweeps that i can't get low enough, and on lane 1 where the sweep shock mounts to the frame, it's shimmed out with like 4 washers. The reason I mention all this is because it seems the way some of these machines were installed is screwy. I think I should take some measurments.

And on some of my machines, the kidney doesn't match up like it should - I have it maxed say up or down depending on the machine, and still doesn't sit how I want it to. Whereas on other machines, I seem to have unlimited adjustment in relation to where the distributor sits.

Ohhhh!
Thanks, I get it now!

Well, it didn't misbehave once tonight. However, the same problem cropped up on another machine. I didn't have time to make the mod. If it still jams next time I work, I'll do it!

Thanks again,

We had the same problems across the house, some 7 and some 10. We shimmed the whole house in one day. Made a big differance.
