• 2nd Ball Cycle

Ok Gents here's what we have.
82/70's cycle the machine, sweep comes to gaurd, table starts, selonoid energizes, shuttle moves, table & pins begin to drop. Sound Familar? Now suppose it does it every time you cycle, with pins already on the deck There is no first ball cycle.
I have swapped this chassis for another. Pinsetter works properly now after repotting some cups & respot cells.
I just know this problem is going to follow this chassis. Any suggestions with the chassis, relay? pins?(in CA plugs)pc board? ETC ETC ETC?
Again any suggetions would be useful.
Thanks
If its SIMS, its only a game.
Just hit reset.

Sim,

What chassis & boards are you using?

Have you tried swapping boards with another lane?

Table tries to spot before sweep clears the deck?

Sounds like a bad spotting relay to me (SP). Did ya try changing that out before swapping chassis's?
All I want in life is to turn wrenches and climb around pinsetters/pinspotters again :/

That immediately popped into my mind as we've had a few go and cause it to spot every cycle. Just doing as I was taught, start as simple as possible and work from there. Good luck fixing it and keep us posted

Re: 2nd Ball Cycle

Hi,

Are you sure it is second ball cycle or is the table just trying to spot pins?

I have had this happen and what the problem was is a broken roll pin in the table drive assy. Look on page 24 of the vantage parts book. Part # 913 415 120 is a roll pin that holds the assy. which connects the nylon roller, that the paul moves so that the table can go into spotting and the shuttle operates, if this roll pin brakes you table will act like you described.

I had one that broke recently in the assembly this assembly and it was a 15 minute fix.

Good luck. I Hope this helps.

Pat

Yeah, i was also thinking along pat's lines. We once had a bind in the solenoid area, or around the shuttle rod, can't remember which. We knew it was changing ball cycle due to the pindication lights changing from first to second and visa versa. Once we "spotted" this we knew it was mechanical, sorry about the pun !

A bad bearing, sticky block, or broken spring in the table drive hub can cause that problem, too... the difference will be that on a 1st ball, the pins will shuttle, but the cups won't swing forward (because the solenoid doesn't have the linkage pulled in).
