rudder drive linkage
What is the best rudder drive linkage out there? We are for some reason having to replace the shock or linkage often, is this normal? We have replaced the springs in the belt tensioner, applied a completely new belt tensioner, applied new belts to the rudder drive, readjusted the pulley for speed, and still at times the rudder drive will lock up, or just loose its pressure to push the pins out of the door. We have kicker's and are currently upgrading to humpbacks. Any suggestions? thanksRemember no one is perfect no matter how good we are!Tags: None

Re: rudder drive linkage
We have about 2 pairs in our house with this problem, all new belts, all new shocks. as much throw as possible and we still get pins in the door. We just pretty much grin and bear it, not really a problem when the lanes are used as pairs. You're lucky, at least you have humpbacks on the way, we're stuck with kickersAll I want in life is to turn wrenches and climb around pinsetters/pinspotters again :/

Re: rudder drive linkage
1. Take a kicker spring and hook it through the upper wishbone of the belt tensioner.
2. Run some light chain to the spring over the lower ball lift link shaft.
3. Secure the chain between the paddle drive braces with a small nail......grind the sharp point off.
4. Stretch the kicker spring out to apply more tension.

Re: rudder drive linkage
If your switching to Humpy's, you'll need to weigh your options. This is a case of "You get what you pay for". There's a large gap in price & performance.
Best - Light ball sensor
2nd best - Light ball clutch (Lifelong - same as the Humpy's)
3rd best - Spring shock (I like Murrey's)

I had a 4:1 go bad and I've never seen or done one before. Trying to search the depths of the forums, YouTube videos, it didn't seem too bad....

Left a rant about this in the bowling forum…

At what thickness do you replace the clutch face.
Is there a minimum dimension from the clutch face to the rivet.
Thanks...
