Won't sweep
we have a lane that will not cycle. the control box nor the ball tracker will start it. changed the chassis and checked mostly everything. the only way it will trigger is with the SA switch.Give the most difficult task to the laziest workers. They will eventually find the easiest possible way of getting it done!Tags: None

To verify, remove large ground wire in correspoding "Bank 8" junction box of offending lane and problem should go away."Where are we going, and why are we in a hand basket?"

Managers Control Switch at Control Desk..Or,diodes in the manager's control.
BowlEquip :
To isolate the problem (eliminate everything outside the machine), put the pinspotter into complete standalone:
1) If you have an ON/OFF switch in the control box, turn it to the OFF position.
2. Unplug the PM and jump #2 to #28. This will close the mask safety circuit.
3. Unplug the A&MC and jump pin #21 to 22. This will turn the machine on.
4. Since you're in the front of the machine doing the A&MC, try to run the sweep via SA. If it runs, the problem is before the machine, such as the A&MC plug/cable, A&MC box, the 8-lane black junction box, managers control unit, or any wires in between. It may also be in the wiring from your ON/OFF control box switch to wherever it makes connection. Check by turning on the switch at this time.
If not, it could be in the A&MC receptacle in the machine or its wires going to C2A.

Re: Won't sweep
The easiest way to determine if you’re stuck in shadow is to pull the thin gray wire off the T2 transformer and tape it off. With this wire pulled, there is no way for the ground signal to get to the logical instruction of the pc board.
The only draw back to pulling this wire is that you will not have shadow (the circuit is completely isolated) and the frame counter at the desk will not count.
BTW if you don’t know where the T2 transformer is it is located under the sweep contactors. It has 5 wires going to it. 2 on the high side and 3 on the low side. The gray wire will be on the low side.
This test is guaranteed to completely isolate the shadow circuit and by far the easiest to do.
Hope this helps,
Triac

Re: Won't sweep
I apoligize for seeming sarcastic in my last reply yesterday. I was at the tail end of a 12 hr day and frustrated with the problem I was having. I appreciate the help everyone was giving, just confused by the abbreviations you were using.
Triac: Those wires were disconnected in all of our chassis last week in an attempt to eliminate phantom triggering in some of our machines lately. I believe that eliminates the shadow theory mentioned above, but I'm not sure.
The problem has gone away for now. I was looking for loose wires in the wiring channels and the old interface boxes on the back wall and must have jiggled the right wire, next time I tried to cycle it from the control box, presto, it worked. ??? I'm still confused about what the problem was and can only hope it doesn't reappear until I can research further. Thank you BT friends for your attemps to help. I've learned that I still have alot to learn.
