  • No spotting again.

Ok the problem I had the other day has returned. Once the machine has been running for a while, the solenoid doesn't get any power on a spot cycle. The fault is in the chassis, I've changed the spot relay. The chassis is on a different lane, the pc board on the lane next to it. So the fault is in the chassis. Any ideas ?

82-70 single board chassis by the way.

Also At the same time another chassis had gone down. You can run the sweep and table from the chassis. But not from the cams. There is no back end. It won't cycle or anything . So if anyone can help please do.

First problem: Check your S relay socket.

Other machine: Check M relay and/or socket.

Make sure your spot relay is a 10 volt relay. Check fuses or breakers on other chassis.

Kat has pretty much nailed it. With regards to your second problem,it could also be corrosion building up in the F3 fuse (if you are running fuses instead of CB’s). Also, could be a bad solder to the F3. One other thing that comes to mind, a slight chance of the T1 going out.

I made up a test relay from an old relay. I took out all the guts and just jumped the Normally Open contacts: 1 & 3…6 & 7…9 & 11. The wires can be de-soldered through the pins.

This test relay can be used in an emergency as the M or M2 if needed. To use it as a test relay, pull the chassis and install relay in socket. Do a continuity test for the contacts listed above. If you have a burnt connector in the socket it will show some resistance or a break and the socket needs to be changed.

For the second chassis, with no back end, kick it. Really, kick the crap out of it, you'll be amazed when the pit fires up.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Yes, kicking the Chassis will help...since the vibration from the kick will cause the relay to move around in a loose flakey socket and sometimes come on.

Kick too hard, and like Goldmember said, the flames are very nice to watch. The C1 harness really enjoys that and wants to get all nice and cozy with you and whispers in your ear in a really sultry and sexy voice, "I want you now, I want you to re-pin me now, I want you to run new wires from top to bottom, I want you to strip me down so I can feel those nice crimpers all over me."

                In a nutshell, a light tap okay...don't kick it like a Sure-Pik.

Kat... you don't by chance run one of those 900 numbers on the side? If not, you might want to look into it.

When you say simgle board chassis, are you by haps refering to the MP?? If so,your second problem could also be a bad mp board. If you have the older mark 3 or 5, they tend to loose there program after around 20 years or service or so. Try swaping it out with another one just for kicks. Also, in Mp's all 3 relays are 24 volts.

no, really, kick the sh&amp;* out of it. Part of it is to fix it, the other part is for anger management. There's nothing more satisfying than destruction. Pure and simple. And if the bastard blows up like the Hindenburg, i assume you have others. The instant venting of pent up aggression that comes with the fatal blow will offset the parts bill by a bit. I am like a ninja when it comes to whizzing flathead screwdrivers across the back and embedding them into nearby walls. Feel the relief?

Hmmmm, its kinda hard to tell from where im sitting what the culprit might be but try looking at your C1 pins in both machine and chassis side, iv'e eleminated more problems by changing out any pins or sockets that appear to be bad or even marginal...good luck.
