  • How many places have you worked?

Valley Bowl Shawmut, AL 24 lanes 82-30

Gator Bowl Jacksonville, Fla 24 82-30's, 6525 over table motor. Closed PW. Changed to 82-70, 5 board chassis.

Garden City Lanes Augusta, Ga 24 82-30's

Atlanta Bowling Center Atlanta, GA 48 82-30's split house

    (All American Corp. bowling centers).-------
East Point Triangle Lanes East Point, GA 36 82-30's

Florida Bowl Mobile, AL 40 82-30's

Gulfport Triangle Lanes Gulfport, MISS. 24 82-30's

Kenner Triangle Lanes Kenner, LA. 32 82-30's
    -------------
Don Carter All-Star Lanes Kenner, LA 64 82-70's (night shift)

    Expressway Lanes Gretna, LA 40 82-30's split house. Now 18 30's and 22 90's.
All the 30 houses had 65-25 chassis and G.E. Motors.
Have never worked in a "B" house but my son managed a 64 lane Carter center that had B's. I hung around with the mechanic at night for about a month and learned all I wanted to know about those machines (if you know what I mean) LOL.
Actually thought it was an interesting operation but having worked on AMF for so long found it awkward to get around on.

    16 Laner to start.
12 Laner for a few months.
    24 laner for a year.
On to another 12 laner to GM and wrench for 2 and a half years.
Back to the 16 laner I started in for 5 years.
Bought a 18 laner for almost 3 years.
Went to another 12 laner for a lease/purchase option.
On to a different 12 laner for service.
Back to where I started to finish my career.

      <font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">I have bowled at Gulfport.

When the ABC was in Mobile there was an AMF tournament that offered a big cash prize to shoot 300 in both centers....one in Mobile....and the one in Gulfport......I shot 298 at the Mobile center playing the twig.....finished 2nd in the tournament in Gulfport playing around 7/8.

It was a nice small center if I recall.

            Jerry,
A hurricane lifted the roof off the house in Gulfport a few years ago and they made enough money from it to install 70's. (So I heard). LOL

Orland bowl in Orland Park Il. 50 lanes ten years and counting.
Before that Richton Bowl Richton Park IL. 32 lanes for four years. That center burned down under "suspicious circumstances". During that time and five years before worked at Bowl Era in Hammond In. That was a 28 laner split house over under. That was a neat place. If you were the only one shagging calls you would have to exit the building and climb a fire escape to catch a call on the second floor. Was he!! in the winter.
