  • Front end BALDOR motor fix.

After running a few years the bakelite (?) washers on the centrifugal mechanism wear out and will not reset the start switch for a re-start on the motor. Did you ever have to go down and have to start the motor manually after it kicks out a few times?

The mechanism has 6 weights on it. 3 of the weights have rubber grommets as the center and the other 3 have bakelite washers, (the pressure applied by these washers reset the mechanism). Over the years the edge of these washers wear and lose the ability to reset the switch.

Take a pair of needle nose pliers and turn the washered weights 180 degrees. As you turn them you will see how they have worn. This should give you another 4 or 5 years of use. We also repack our bearings while we have the motor apart.

I install a SSSS for back end motors on it.

So far, so good. The first one was 4 years ago.
