• Pinspotter video

For those who may never have seen an 82/70 in action I have posted a short video (hey, there may a few curious bowlers lurking here). It's a Windows Media file about one minute long. The quality isn't the best as this was originally shot on Super 8mm film back in 1983. These pinspotters are located at Gardner Ten Pins in Gardner, MA and are of 60's vintage. I would imagine they've made some mods in the last 19 years...

You can view/download the video at <a href="http://www.dbickford.com/pinspotter.wmv" target="_blank"><a href="http://www.dbickford.com/pinspotter.wmv" target="_blank"><a href="http://www.dbickford.com/pinspotter.wmv" target="_blank"><a href="http://www.dbickford.com/pinspotter.wmv" target="_blank"><a href="http://www.dbickford.com/pinspotter.wmv" target="_blank"><a href="http://www.dbickford.com/pinspotter.wmv" target="_blank"><a href="http://www.dbickford.com/pinspotter.wmv" target="_blank"><a href="http://www.dbickford.com/pinspotter.wmv" target="_blank"><a href="http://www.dbickford.com/pinspotter.wmv" target="_blank"><a href="http://www.dbickford.com/pinspotter.wmv" target="_blank">http://www.dbickford.com/pinspotter.wmv</a></a></a></a></a></a></a></a></a></a>

Davect cool video. If Im correct it looks like the table and the sweeps had the fast 12/2 Gears in them They just looked like they also had the ss chassis on them I noticed that the sweep did not wait for the table to go up before it left the gaurd position.
They say that the **** rolls down hill but the smell always starts at the top.

I saw that too (SS chassis) I was wondering, was there a third motor speed i was unaware of?? I know the 12/1, and have also worked with the 14/5 (maybe this is the 12/2 that was refered to) I am just curious??

(They way I understood it was 12.1 output RPM and 14.5 output RPM....please correct me if i am wrong)

Noticed that too, that baby was running off the old 5 boards with the sweep beating the table returning to rest. Fast gearboxes too, we have quite a few of them
All I want in life is to turn wrenches and climb around pinsetters/pinspotters again :/

Yup, they had the 5 boards (I thought it was six, but I haven't seen these machines in ages). I don't know about the chassis or the gearboxes, etc. Never got into it that deep.

there is an optional 6th board for the elco chassis which is used for spare maker.
sweeps return to zero off of TA-1 on original elco's and omega tek boards made in 1981 &amp; 1984. the sweep and table did look a tad faster than a 14.5, i think the olden time camera was a bit off real time, like watchin babe ruth run around the bases.

Re: Pinspotter video

I have two old omega-tek boards in my house which tells TA1 to lift the sweep to from 270 to gaurd! Made in 1984, printed on the board. Just like the 5/6 card S/S chassis used to run.
The film does look a little off real time, by the speed of the distributor. ( looks like a 230 volt machine on speed!! )
If only my machines ran that fast But its all relative really!

Re: Pinspotter video

If omega-tek is reading these posts, can you verify a modification to the old boards?
Ie. 1980 - 1984. Is there a conversion that can be made to the board to change the sweep run from 270 to guard from TA1 to the more relevent TA2 cam? Leaving the table not exposed!
This would be most prevelent. I'm sure i'm not the only one running these boards in my centre.

tHERE is a modification that was made on the board. You can do it yourself or send to Omega-tek and get done. It also helps elimate the machine jumping ball stepper.

I'm sending in 2 boards for expander board add on, and to change sweep delay.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">OK, then they did have the 5 board. No scoring or sparemaker etc. Just the plain old "Magic Triangle" with the 10 pin indicator lights.

The film-to-video transfer could be a bit off time. But those pinspotters DID run fairly fast. Probably exaggerated by ye olde film camera.
