  • Another orientation problem!

Again, everything has been adjusted, to no avail!
Pin travels up pinwheel onto orientation pan neck first and depending upon which position the dissy is at,the neck of the pin catches the wrong side of the orientation post, thus causing the pin to travel down the dissy belt the wrong way round!!
    Look forward to the replies!

    Re: Another orientation problem!

look at the brackets in the pinwheel if they are turned out to the shuttles more than likely they are causing your pins to fall onto the orinentor pan the wrongway make sure the brackets are staright and not loose, make sure the rivets are nice and tight if a bracket is missing a rivet put the rivets back in..also if you like I have done some mods on my machines that elimantes pins head 1st on distributor and also turns the pins on pans very smoothly.which has virtuly elimanted pileups....If you like Ill send you some pics just let me know...

if head first pins are going up dist head first, kidney needs to be adjusted up and closer to dist. if butt first pins are over orienting off the pan or taking forever to orient, kidney needs lowered and pulled back away. removing dist belt runner is a life saver with the latter problem. need a thick dist belt with plenty of spring tension on it

Is your pin seating rod correctly set ? Easily overlooked.

Nice Pic Lampie. Them are some clean machines.

Thanks for the replies. With reference to KLH,I made sure all the pin holder brkts were secure & straight, but still the problem.
I would be interested to see the mod pics!
Coors,I like the dissy minus the belt runner rear!
                Nice pic.
Lampie that is a cracking pic-forget the orientation problem, who does your m/c cleaning!
Hmmm, yes we have allready checked the pin seating rods.
I think Lampies mod on the kidney plate is tops.
Waiting out on KLH`s mod pics.
I was wondering if a pinwheel that is`nt running totally true could also cause this problem?
It only seems to happen when the dissy is in the #7 or#10 bin position depending on l/h or r/h m/c.

                  Re: Another orientation problem!

Is your distributor dead vertical ?
This has been covered in great detail before, although I don't have time to find the best post at the moment.

One other question, how old are your machines.

Those are some shiny pins. Hard to keep '70s from chewing up surlyn sometimes.

Although my machines don't look bad either(and have the same mods), the credits should go to Masternut!
Look at the sentence underneath the picture!

hmmmm, yeah the dissy is as vertical as it`ll go.
The machines are near on 17 years old (1988).
I think i`ll just blitz all the pinwheels/weldments,c u in a year or two!!

Reach in and bang on the pinwheel with your fist. Is it loose? Good. Bye some new bearings.
