• 82-70 back end motor wont start

unfortunaently i have 4 different kinds of motors, the one i am having trouble with is a vantage type C

the starter is humming, no movement from motor, take it apart and its hot as a pistol that just got fired. if anyone can steer me in the riht direction, and even better if you have a diagram of the breakdown of this motor please help.

many thanks, jeremy

oh yeah, the problem i was having with the switch on my lane 7 was sabotage, i found the cut wire in master cb. located all cut wires on lane 14 and replaced 6 chasis switches with SS and ripped out the 5 boards ( went to the gun range with those) an put in the m-tek boards : )

i think its finally safe to put the covers back on {crossing my fingers}

im not sure what a Vantage Type C is. But if its humming and no movement, the motor isnt getting on the start windings. need to check centrifigal switch if still using them. make sure switch mechanism is making the switch close the contacts. better yet, install an 042 SSSS on the pit motor. and turn the screw in til it starts. or for now just jump start it if you need to use it in a pinch.

if you are referring to the black vantage motors for Nationals. i havent had much luck with those.

westinghouse motors are the best I have hardly any trouble with them plus they are easy to repair and modify!!!!

Jeremy; I'm not sure what a Vantage Type C is. But if its humming and no movement, the motor isn't getting on the start windings. You need to check the centrifigal switch. Make sure the switch mechanism is making the switch close the contacts...Someone Correct Me If I'm Wrong, But Some Rotating/Centrifigal Switches Have A Larger Area Which Means You Might Need The Smaller Circumfrence(Rotating/Centrifigal Switch). It's That Or The Switch Has Moved Too Far Down On The Shaft. And Yes, They Do Run Hotter. <font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">They are reliable and easy to work on, but they leak like a son-of-a-b!tch. (I have 32 of them).
But, on a positive note, at least you know when the gearbox is empty.
