Re: BOUNCE BOARD

I haven't had any problems with the AMF boards. I've also got some of the Vantage boards that have been in for a while with no problems.

        Re: BOUNCE BOARD

We have a lot of the old dark brown boards in, they're good. We don't often have them go. And the new light brown/tanish phenolic boards from them seem to be holding up well also for us. Those white boards AMF came out with a good while ago on the other hand

Use the U channel on the back with 5/16 bolts and double stover lock nuts.....they will never come apart.

                Re: BOUNCE BOARD

Using the original style vibration dampeners is one of the best things you can do for a bounce plate. Those sure looked nice in the picture. With a place that clean and pretty I would be posting pictures every day.

Is the U-channel a new item or is it a "mod"?

                        Re: BOUNCE BOARD

You'll love it, 'Nut... our old mechanic did that with structural aluminum square tube he had cut in half... one of the bowlers he was friends worked at a metalshop, and had them fabricated for him. You wouldn't think it'd hold up, but they've been going strong. We never got around to doing them all... it was one of those "wish list" projects that never had time to happen.

2 'ribs' in each board have more strength than just the one, and U-channel is heavier than the OEM T-bars. We did about the same... G8 hardware, but with nice, fat washers to keep the nuts from wearing through the aluminum channel.

Surprisingly enough, we had better luck with a modified version of the "heavy duty" vibe dampeners. The OEM style (like those pictured) didn't last, but the "heavies" were so stiff they would bust the pit mountings. We found that by drilling a 1/2" hole through the middle of both dampener "legs", it had more "give" and didn't break pit brackets, but still held up 100%+ better than the OEMs did.

The OEM vibe dampeners are a very poor design... you can't bond rubber to flat steel vertically and the place 'shearing' force on it... it comes apart too easily. The design of the "heavy duty" dampener is the right idea...placing vibration on it as 'compression' instead of 'shear', but they're too heavy to soak up enough shock, so they pass it down to the brackets, causing breakage. I'd like to see the design of the heavy duty "pyramid" vibration dampeners, but with the stuff they use to make "red blaster" kickers out of instead of the heavy black rubber. I think that would be ideal... enough give to protect the brackets, but tons more durability than the OEMs.
